The Blue Land Crab lives in burrows in the floor of the broad leaf rain forest. Their burrow can extend down in the forest floor between five or ten feet or until they get to the water table,in which they will often submerge themselves to maintain gull function and body moisture. Blue crabs are slow growing. Juvenile stage are up to four years, from four to fifteen years are there adults stage. They molt up to sixty times in their fifteen years life span. The breeding season is from June to November. In which they will start migrating to the cost line or water source to lay eggs. During this time blue crab can find themselves on the plates of may Belizean. So much so that in some areas they are over harvested. If you want to help protect blue Crab. Be mindful of migrating Crabs on the road ways, don't harvest crabs with eggs, be mindful not to cover crab burrows in land fill from development. Remember it's the rainy season folks. June to November, same as the hurricane season.
