Architecture, design, culture…. Bauhaus is a lifestyle. In 2019 Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia, as well as other places throughout Germany, celebrate 100 years of Bauhaus. During these festivities, enjoy a journey of discovery, meet contemporary witnesses, travel the paths of great Bauhaus masters and experience new modernism in the center of Germany.
Quite a lot of what became an impressive concept in the prospering America of the 1940s had its origins in Germany: Founded in Weimar (Thuringia) in 1919 the Bauhaus school moved to the city of Dessau (Saxony-Anhalt) in 1925 and finally, after only 14 years, it was brought down as a result of the pressure from the N***s in Berlin in 1933. After that, the Bauhaus concepts were taken up and conquered the world: Many of the German masters and students adapted their ideas to the new conditions in America, founding schools and creating a revolutionary style. However, their early years in particular in Weimar and Dessau influenced their works and forms of expression.
