It's also a time to focus on how we can create a more inclusive society that embraces all people, regardless of their sexuality or other personal characteristics. Let's look at some of the steps you can take as an organization to create a more inclusive workplace:

🌿 Implement inclusive policies:
Develop and enforce policies that explicitly protect against discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity. This includes anti-discrimination, anti-harassment, and equal opportunity policies.

🌿 Provide DE&I training:
Provide regular diversity, equity, and inclusion training to educate employees about unconscious bias, cultural competency, and the importance of allyship - including specific modules on LGBTQ+ issues.

🌿 Create Employee Resource Groups (ERGs):
Establish ERGs to provide support, networking opportunities, and a platform for underrepresented groups within the company. ERGs can help create a safer environment for employees to come out and feel supported.

🌿 Enhance diverse employer branding:
Promote your organization's commitment to diversity through your employer branding. Highlight stories of diverse employees, showcase inclusive policies, and use inclusive language in all communications.

🌿 Regularly review and use your data:
Collect and analyze data on diversity metrics such as hiring, promotions, and employee satisfaction. You can use this data to identify areas for improvement and track progress over time to ensure you're on track with your DE&I strategy.

💡 4 in 10 LGBT+ employees have experienced non-inclusive behavior at work.

💡 1 in 3 LGBT+ employees are actively looking for a more LGBT+ inclusive employer.

💡 Nearly 7 in 10 LGBT+ employees consider workforce diversity a critical factor.

💡 One of the most common reasons for not being out at work is fear of being treated differently.

These data tell us that while progress has been made, there is still work to be done. It's important to continue to foster an inclusive environment where everyone can feel safe and valued.
