If you’re in Denmark during the holiday season, don’t miss out on the iconic Danish Christmas lunch 😍

It’s the perfect occasion to gather with colleagues to celebrate the year that has passed, with friends in a festive mood, and with family to share the Christmas spirit ❤️

The spotlight is, of course, on the food: You’ll often find various types of herring (white, marinated, and fried) paired with curry salad, shrimp and eggs, crispy tartelets filled with chicken and asparagus, warm pâté with bacon and mushrooms, hearty sausages or meatballs with red cabbage, roast pork, and maybe even smoked eel for the adventurous. All of this is accompanied by Christmas beer and a generous amount of schnapps 🍺🍸🥓

Remember to experience the magic of Lucia Day 🕯️

Tomorrow, December 13, the Danes celebrate the Christian martyr Sankta Lucia. It’s a beautiful tradition that lights up the darkness with candles and song 🤍

Here’s where you can join the festive celebrations around the region:

Along Aarhus harbor, Christmas-decorated kayaks will gather at 17.00 in a unique Lucia procession. Don’t miss this one-of-a-kind spectacle 🚣🏼‍♂️

At the ARoS Art Museum, the city’s children will gracefully circle Your Rainbow Panorama and the rest of the museum starting at 17.30 🖌️

The Rethinkers will do their magical parade in Randers today at 10.30 and in Aarhus tomorrow at 16.30. is VisitAarhus’ incredible volunteer corps - a group of dedicated locals ❤️‍🔥 The annual Lucia parade brings Christmas cheer and shines a spotlight on the voluntary spirit that drives so many cultural events across The Aarhus Region 👼🏼

A piece of Paris in Aarhus, Denmark 👼🏼

Tucked away in the charming Latin Quarter, Café Englen (The Angel) is one of Aarhus’ oldest cafés and a beloved local gem. Since the 1980s, it’s been a haven for creatives, cozy coffee moments, and delicious French-inspired dishes. With vintage posters, gilded mirrors, and brass details, this café oozes French elegance 🇫🇷

The menu is a love letter to French cuisine: think classic steak béarnaise, comforting French onion soup, croque monsieur and madame, tartare, and tarte flambée. Or simply enjoy a warm cup of cocoa on the cobblestone streets, watching Aarhusians stroll by 🧅🥧🥩

And the name? Not a coincidence. Around the corner, you’ll find Paradisgade (Paradise Street) and the iconic art cinema, Øst for Paradis (East of Paradise), with a legendary nightclub on the top floor. Café Englen truly feels like a little piece of Paris 🍷
