Swedish Culture Highlights: Kräftskivor - Crayfish parties"

🦐Seafood lovers rejoice! Crayfish season will be starting in Sweden 🦐

Kräftskivor is a Swedish annual seafood fest that can be dated back to the 17th century. Swedes hold Kräftskivor celebrations from the first Wednesday of August till early September.

For the Swedish people, the crayfish season marks the end of summer. It is, therefore, celebrated with the festivities and merriness it befits

Crayfish parties are held outdoors among friends and family. The “red gold”, crayfish, are cooked with beer, dill, and salt and served with Västerbotten cheese and nubbe shots to drink. Party hats, lanterns, and red, gold-themed decorations ornament the festive tables to celebrate the summer’s upcoming end.
You can also take part in a crayfish safari. You can rent, a sommarstuga, a summer house, and fish crayfish to hold your own feast.

So, if you find yourself in Stockholm in August, polish your cutlery and dive into a crayfish fest. Enjoy Kräftskiva and celebrate summer with the Swedish people. Seafood restaurants all over Stockholm, and Sweden, will be serving crayfish in honor of this Swedish tradition.
