Fly to Greenland via Nuuk's new airport 👋

With the new international airport in Nuuk, you will be able to fly directly to Nuuk from Copenhagen! Until now, Kangerlussuaq has been the gateway to Greenland, and you can of course still fly there. But if you are going to Nuuk, the journey will soon become a lot easier.

The new airport is due to open on 28 November 2024.

7 Days in Ilulissat over New Year’s 🎊🎉

Our trip "New Year’s Eve among the Icebergs" is an extended version of of the popular 5-day version, as some of our guest felt that the original tour was a bit too short! They didn't lack experiences, but rather desired a bit more time for relaxation and reflection.

We listened to the feedback, and therefore, this extended trip offers both time for exploration and deeper immersion.

Just like on our 5-day trip, you will experience fireworks, sled dogs, the Northern Lights, enormous icebergs, and snow-covered cliffs, but you will also have days on your own where you can relax or explore at your own pace – and the possibilities are numerous! 😍

While the polar bear is easily recognized with its white-looking fur and deceivingly cute-looking paws, you might not know the following two facts! 🐻‍❄️

How do you say "polar bear" in Greenlandic?
If you ever come across a polar bear and want to call it by its Greenlandic name before running away in the other direction, all you have to say is "nanoq".

Do polar bears hibernate in winter?
Unlike other bears, polar bears do not hibernate in winter. However, when a female gives birth to her cubs, she will make a cave that she stays in, while the cubs are small and still need her ❤

Extended weekend at the edge of the Ice Sheet? 🇬🇱

The place is Kangerlussuaq, only a 4½ hour flight from Denmark. The settlement is just 25 km from the fantastic Ice Sheet, which covers over 80% of Greenland. Until September, you can experience warm days with sunshine. From the latter half of September, we have the opportunity to offer the Northern Lights, and from November you might see the first snowfall ❄️

The South Greenlandic settlement is known for its modern sheep farming, its picturesque surroundings, and the many historical remains of the Norsemen.

Autumn is a peculiar thing, which for some is the most beautiful season of the year, while others are already starting to long for next summer. Fortunately for us, many of those in the first group belong to those who love Greenland and all that our country has to offer.

There was a time when tourism to Greenland was just a summer thing, but Greenland Travel has played a big part in changing that, and Greenland is slowly becoming a year-round destination.

Do you feel uneasy about flying? ✈️

Air Greenland has launched a podcast series to help those who are insecure about flying. The series consists of three episodes, where one of Air Greenland's skilled pilots talks about everything that happens during a flight.

In addition, episode three is a relaxation exercise, where a skilled hypnotist, who is an expert in reducing anxiety during flights, helps the listener to calm down 😴

The series is produced in collaboration with GoLittle Creative and is published in three languages: Greenlandic, Danish, and English.

In addition to the podcast being part of Tuukkaq's inflight system, you can find it in various podcast apps. You just have to search for "Air Greenland".

TODAY WE CELEBRATE GREENLAND'S NATIONAL DAY! 🥳

The National Day in Greenland is the reason behind the folk festival that takes place in all towns and settlements every year! June 21 is also the summer solstice and the longest and brightest day of the year. The light creates the perfect backdrop for the celebration, which offers singing, speeches, flag-raising, church service, coffee, and local entertainment.

As part of the trip, the Classic Tour: The Golden Triangle, you can, among other things, travel to the Ice Cap at Kangerlussuaq.

I took this photo myself at the entrance to the Ice Cap, and although my camera doesn't do it justice, it was one of the wildest things I've experienced. On the way there we saw both reindeer, musk oxen and large footprints in the snow from a polar bear! 🐻‍❄️

Uummannaq is very much a traditional Greenlandic town, and everything is completely different from what you are used to at home. It's summer and the days are very long – in the height of summer there is no night because the midnight sun never sets.

The humpback whale is the one of the largest baleen whales, and the one that you have the greatest chance of seeing in Greenland 🇬🇱

With its heart-shaped blow and jagged whale fins, it is easy to recognize from other whales. It also likes to leap above the surface of the water, which is a terrific sight for anyone lucky enough to be nearby!
