Exciting news from the forefront of marine energy innovation!

We're happy to announce that MacArtney's proven GreenLink solution will connect cutting-edge technology at U.S.-based PacWave South, supporting Oregon State University's full-scale wave energy test facility for alternative power sources 🌊.

"OSU sought expert advice from several companies during the design phase of PacWave South," said Dan Hellin, PacWave's Deputy Director. "MacArtney was consistently one of the most responsive and helpful. We were therefore delighted when our contractor, RT Casey, selected MacArtney as the supplier of the dry-mate connectors for the PacWave test site."

MacArtney supplies five half GreenLink terminations for the system's four power transmission cables, including the termination work. Four halves are allocated to the test site, and one is to mate and test them, hence connecting client-supplied dynamic cables or umbilicals.

Besides enabling seamless integration at PacWave South, GreenLink's scalability and efficiency make it suitable for both large commercial projects and small-scale systems. This could potentially benefit remote communities currently dependent on diesel for energy, perfectly aligning with OSU's goal of exploring wave energy as a reliable power source for remote areas.

A Dana Octopus squid was recently curious about a lander, including a camera and a SubConn connector in the South Pacific.

🦑 The deep-sea hooked squid, one of the largest deep-water squids, has two large photophores on its arms that emit bright bioluminescent flashes to disorient prey.

A team from the Minderoo-UWA Deep Sea Research Centre, including chief scientist Heather Stewart from Kelpie Geosciences UK, captured the footage while deploying baited cameras near the Samoan Passage.

Recently, MacArtney Hydraulics’ staff social club organised a go-kart event followed by dinner in Herning. Twenty-seven colleagues joined in, enjoying a pleasant afternoon and evening together.

MacArtney Offshore Wind Solutions has expanded its partnership with Jan De Nul Group to design and supply custom CEMAC tensioner systems for their entire cable-laying (CLV) vessel fleet, which includes the Fleeming Jenkin, the world's largest CLV.

MacArtney's electrically driven tensioners ensure safe and controlled cable handling, with real-time monitoring of cable integrity, and are easily integrated with the vessel's central control system.

The new project is a recognition of the technology expertise following previous collaborations with MacArtney Group on a 50-tonne all-electric Launch and Recovery System (eLARS), and Mike Welling, Business Development Manager at MacArtney Offshore Wind Solutions, states:

"Being re-selected by Jan De Nul Group is a testament to our competencies and commitment to ensuring that Jan De Nul Group continues pioneering the cable installation market with their advanced fleet."

Thank you, Henning 🤝.

On December 20 2023, Henning retired as an employee at Macartney Hydraulics A/S after an entire working life with us: precisely 47 years, 8 months, and 6 days. Henning started on April 14, 1976, as an apprentice and has since been in our assembly department and lastly as quality control.

We will undoubtedly miss Henning’s enormous knowledge and personality, but we wish him all the best of luck with his retirement.

🧤Why is he standing with a pair of gloves? That’s because we have nominated him for the Medal of Merit.

Thank you for the stories from back then, Henning, and enjoy your retirement.

At MacArtney Hydraulics, Christmas is associated with cosy traditions 🎄

Our staff association does a great job organising exciting events for us, and December is no exception.

✨ We had a decoration evening where we made Christmas decorations to bring home and for the company canteen.

In keeping with tradition, we always celebrate December 1 in our production hall with glögg and "apple slices" - a Danish delicacy primarily consisting of pancake batter baked in a special "æbleskive pande".

MacArtney is a Climate Partner with Esbjerg Municipality.

Group CEO Niels Peter Christiansen welcomed Esbjerg's Deputy Mayor Nicolaj Aarøe to sign the Climate Partnership agreement at our headquarters in Esbjerg.

This commits us to set objectives for our HQs towards reaching carbon neutrality by 2030, and some of our specific targets are:

✅ Converting company vehicles from fossil-fuelled to electric ones and increasing the capacity of own charging stations
✅ CO2-neutral electricity and district heating supply
✅ Ongoing energy optimisation such as conversion to LED lighting, nocturnal heating regulation, sensors, etc.

At the same time, we are working on implementing a 2028 ESG strategy to minimise our CO2 footprint through responsible production and consumption, a more circular approach for our products and increased reuse and recycling of our waste resources.

We are proud to partner with Esbjerg Kommune (municipality) on this vital endeavour.

These are not ordinary Christmas tree ornaments. These are the wishes of children growing up in families struggling to give them a good Christmas Eve.

Christmas is just around the corner, and while it is a time of joy for many, it can be a challenging season for some families.

Last year, some of our colleagues baked and sold cookies, raising funds to support the organisation Mothers' Aid. This year, MacArtney HQs partners with Julehjælpen (the Christmas Aid Organisation) to help Danish families in need.

Specifically, we are assisting with Christmas gifts for 40 children. Their wishes are written on Christmas ornaments, beautifully decorating the reception's Christmas tree.

All colleagues are invited to pick a Christmas wish from the tree and help make a difference in the lives of these families 🎁🎄- and gifts are already being donated, piling up 🙏.

We are grateful for this opportunity to support a great cause.

MacArtney Offshore Wind Solutions is proud to collaborate with Energinet on a cable handling and storage system for Viking Link: a high voltage link between Great Britain and Denmark spanning 765 km by 2023.

The electrically driven modular CEMAC solution meets the specific requirements for a long-term cable handling and storage solution for an offshore cable. A strategic onshore set-up at Esbjerg Port ensures quick access to a 15 km spare cable for prompt replacements.

To ensure a remarkable 40-year operational lifespan, MacArtney implemented a bi-weekly operation and an automated process.

The project is a testament to MacArtney's in-house expertise spanning construction, technical capacities, and mechanical and electronic engineering.
