It's December! Christmas is one of favourite holidays, so here are 3 of our favourite December activities:
1. Christmas baking - we tend to go all out and make a lot of goodies (it gets eaten pretty quickly too!)
2. Ice Skating - ice skating is one of our favourite winter sports
3. Feeding the birds - finding food in winter gets harder for our local wildlife, so we like hanging up bird feeders

We wanted to share some of our design inspiration with you! When we were doing the interior design of Sydhavshuset we really wanted to be inspired by the great outdoors. For us this is a place to relax and reconnect with nature, and we want to give that to others as well. We picked colours that connected us to the sea and warm sunshine. We also love bringing nature in, such as driftwood and seashells. Our family heritage is also an important part of the house to us, so a lot of the photos and art in the house is connected to our grandparents.

Arguably one of the best things about Sydhavshuset is that the beach is so close, and we love the sea in all weather at all times of year!

Just north of Sydhavshuset is Bøtø wood, which is an amazing green area, perfect for going for a walk together as a family on the weekend.

A mezzanine is always popular with kids and teenagers, we all loved sleeping up there when we were younger. But a mezzanine easily becomes a bit neglected, and when our grandparents lived here it was mostly used for storing boxes. This year we put a bit of extra effort into making the two mezzanines cosy and welcoming.

We love dogs and you are welcome to bring your dog on your holiday to Sydhavshuset. We have two hyper dogs we bring along to Sydhavshuset. They love to run around and experience everything with us, both in the house, along the beach and in nearby Bøtø dog forest.

When you visit, please don’t let your dog up on the sofa or the beds. Also, remember to bring your own dog bed & bowls. This year we took over our grandparent's holiday home. They’ve been retired with failing health, so it has by and by become a bit neglected. Our grandfather died this year, so we bought it partly to remember him by. Now we’ve spent the summer cleaning, painting, replacing some of the furniture (the dining room chairs were way too heavy!) and freshen up the whole holiday home. It has been a great project together as a family and we look forward to sharing it with you!
