🚢 A New Captain on Board! 🚢

On November 8th, 2024, David Damkiær took the helm of Neptun as Captain, leading the ship on a 1300-nautical-mile journey along the Pacific coast of Central America to Mazatlán, Mexico. With a deep passion for teaching and sail training, David has been a cornerstone of the NEPTUN association since its inception, serving as a board member and Education Coordinator.

This marks a historic moment for Neptun, as David becomes the first captain outside of founding fathers Anders and Tobias to command the ship. David is excited to guide the crew on this incredible voyage, continuing Neptun's legacy of exploration and learning.

We're always searching for passionate leaders to take on the role of Captain. If you or someone you know would love to lead adventures aboard a traditional schooner, reach out to us!

Volunteers wanted for rigging NEPTUN as a brigantine!

We are looking for volunteers that can join us from the 15. january or 1. february until the end of march 2025. Work will take place in Mazatlan, Mexico.

Work 5½ days/week 08-17.
Food and shelter covered by our nonprofit organization.

We still have a few bunks open onboard NEPTUN for our exciting cruise through South/Central America, including a stop in Golfito, Costa Rica.

Itinerary:
1st November (2 spots left) - Bahia del sol, El Salvador

1st December - Acapulto, Mexico

3rd January 2025 - END: Lay up in shipyard Mazatlan, Mexico

More Stops to be decided by the crew along the way.

Accommodation:
You'll have your own bunk with privacy curtains and access to 230 volts, either in the cozy salon with 8 bunks or the forepeak with 3 bunks

Experience:
No sailing experience? No problem! You'll learn on the go. All you need is a willingness to learn and to pitch in with ship duties. ⚓

What to Expect:
Our journey will include day sailing, where everyone helps manage the sails. You'll have plenty of downtime to explore vibrant cultures, go diving, or relax onboard. 🏝️

Economy:
We operate on a shared-cost basis, where the crew contributes to the ship's operational costs.

Daily cost €67, approx. €2.075 per month
(USD: Daily cost $74, approx. $2,300 per month)

Who We Are:
Join a tight-knit crew of 15, including 10 rotating crew members and 5 permanent crew. Learn traditional seamanship on NEPTUN, a 26-meter staysail schooner, and dive into skills like sail repair, rope splicing, navigation, and more.
