Eden Heights is a family-run, permaculture homestead and farm business. Open for eco-wellness retreats or private stays in our delightful cabin, where you can experience living in harmony with nature within a blossoming homestead that utilises permacultu

re design. Our healthy snack range is expected on shelves summer 2021. We are a family of 3 (plus 4 animals & flock of chickens) living off-grid on a sunny, peaceful hillside, sourcing our water from a nearby mountain spring, producing electricity from solar power, growing a large portion of our own food and recycling/re-purposing our waste. If you are curious about alternative lifestyles, permaculture, nature connection, environmental protection or self-sufficiency - or if you just want to immerse in nature and chill! - then our half day workshops or a stay in our remote wooden cabin overlooking the ocean and rainforest with personal masseuse and organic farm-to-table meals might tempt you.

The QUICK-RELEASE REEF - the only knot I use to tether my sheep! Also good for cows, goats, dogs - ANY animal you might tie. No matter how much the animal pulls, this knot is always undoable! And as long as it is pulled snug, it won't come undone by itself. Right over left followed by left over right OR Left over right followed by right over left. Leave a loop instead of pulling the last hitch all the way through. #animalhusbandry #usefulknots #homesteading

Feel like some homemade Passionfruit Wine could go down...? You'll need: 2 gallon container Passionfruit (25-30) Sugar (3 cups) Yeast (1tsp - bakers yeast works if you can't get brewers) Bay leaf / cinnamon stick / whole cloves (all optional) Water Process: mix passionfruit, sugar and water in the container and add yeast. Stir well. Add other seasoning. Cover with an airtight lid* for 21 days. Taste it at 19 days to ensure it doesn't over-ferment. When ready, strain through cheese cloth and bottle. Drink immediately or refrigerate, leaving an inch of headspace. *the lid must allow air to escape but not go in. You can buy a special brewing valve or make your own using tape and a drinking straw submerged in water at the outer end. Enjoy! 🥂 #homebrew #winelovers #homesteading

Good morning! Blessed day to all 💞 Breakfast from the homestead - and our broiler hens provide more than our layer hens right now! Our layer hens are more free-range and lay in the forest around the animal shelter. By the time i find them, they're already sitting on a clutch, so we've had plenty of chicks lately! 🐣
