ur Roseau Dominica cruise pier and hop onboard your air-conditioned transportation for a 15-minute drive to the shore snorkel excursion water sports facility. On your journey there, you will pass the picturesque village of Pointe Michel. Champagne Reef is rated as one of the top five snorkeling shore excursion sites in the Caribbean. On arrival at the snorkel facility, you will meet your PADI certified Divemaster who will be your snorkel guide for this shore excursion. You will be provided with comfortably fitting snorkel gear, a brief safety orientation and tips on how to get the most out of your snorkel shore excursion in Dominica. Gear includes mask, snorkel and fins as well as a mandatory snorkel vest. Please indicate your approximate shoe sizes for snorkel gear. Please indicate the gender and shoe size for each participant at the time of booking. Your guide will show you how to put the gear on and then lead you to the water. Your snorkeling cruise shore experience starts right from the shore; the Champagne reef starts just 3 yards out and extends out about 100 yards. You will see how the underwater geothermal springs vent gasses in the form of thousands of warm bubbles, creating a feeling of swimming through an infinite glass of champagne! The reef itself is impressive and is home to tropical marine life including lobster and parrot fish and is a permanent habitat of Hawksbill turtles. The reef also has vibrantly colored corals and sponges. Please note that you will not be able to stand up on the reef and should have basic swimming skills. The snorkeling shore excursion guide will be in the water with you to point out marine life and to assist if needed. After your unique snorkeling activity, you will swim to the shore and return to the water sports facility where there are showers, changing rooms, refreshments, and a scenic sundeck. There is also a gift and coffee shop where you can buy traditional Dominican food at your own cost. When you are ready, you determine when you would like to go back.
