Taino Farm is a sustainable agriculture and educational center in Los Brazos, Dominican Republic. Our main focus are in permaculture, aquaponics, vermiculture and beekeeping. At Taino Farm, we are growing local and exotic varieties of fruit and vegetables, by maximizing our production through intelligent permaculture design that works with the existing ecosystems, geological formations, and local

techniques. Our goal is to highlight the ease in which permaculture can be used as a way of providing a community with an essential highly nutritious diet. Our commercial Aquaponics system is one of the largest and most efficient systems in the Caribbean. We raise Tilapia fish and a variety of plants —mint, hierbabuena, arugula, to name a few. We currently distribute locally, to our partners at the eXtreme Collective and to several supermarkets throughout the Dominican Republic. At Taino Farm, we are developing various projects including a partnership with local farmers, upcoming workshops and courses with top instructors in aquaponics and permaculture. By demand, we are increasing our eco-tourism efforts to create a full-service retreat center at our facilities in Los Brazos. Exciting Update from our Farm!

We're thrilled to share our latest project with you all! We've been hard at work rebuilding our chicken house to ensure our feathered friends have the best possible living conditions here on our farm.

One of the significant upgrades we've made is replacing 12 wooden poles with sturdy concrete ones. This decision wasn't just about durability, but also about sustainability and long-term viability. By using concrete poles, we're ensuring greater stability for the structure, especially in our tropical climate where weather conditions can be unpredictable.

Here's why we made the switch:

1️⃣ **Durability:** Concrete poles offer superior strength and resilience compared to wood. This means our chicken house will stand strong against the elements for years to come, providing a safe haven for our beloved birds.

2️⃣ **Sustainability:** While wood is a traditional choice, it often involves cutting down trees and contributes to deforestation. By opting for concrete poles, we're reducing our environmental impact and promoting sustainable practices on our farm.

3️⃣ **Low Maintenance:** Concrete poles require minimal maintenance compared to wood, saving us time and resources in the long run. This allows us to focus more on caring for our chickens and growing organic produce.

Das Bewusstsein ist einfach noch nicht da. Früher wurde alles was konsumiert wurde einfach kompostiert. Als dann Plastikflaschen, Tüten und sonstige Verpackungen kamen haben sich viele Menschen keine Gedanken gemacht …

In unserer Gemeinde ändert sich das jetzt. Zusammen mit den Nachbarn und der lokalen Highschool haben wir heute im Dorf Müll gesammelt um den zu trennen und zu recyceln.

Als nächster Step kommen recycling Tonnen 🫶

Efficient and reliable watering is one of the basics that make our farm function.

We are happy to say that we took another step in renewing our sustainability and efficiency.The system is up and running, thanks to one of our shareholders Hannes, who put in a lot of effort to optimize the system. The water used is the overflow of our fish tanks which flows into our pond. This mineral rich water is then pumped through the watering system to feed all the gardens. Happy Friday! Here’s a quick recap from our Dog Clinic 🐕 that took place a few weeks ago. It was next level for us to collaborate and join forces with Moringa’s Mission and The Mandevilla Foundation. For the neutering program we offered our farm, a crew of volunteers and worked hand in hand with the community of Los Brazos - as well as a Veggie BBQ by the river for volunteers & vets. We had a lovely time and are more than proud to have made better the lives of 51 animals within our vecinity.
