Cuban tody (Todus multicolor) birds are not threatened by extinction, but they are inactive birds. This bird's habitats are found around a range of larger islands of the Caribbean, including the Greater Antilles in the West Indies. Cuba, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, and Hispaniola all are home to this bird species, whose breeding season begins in March and lasts until April or June.
There are a total of five species of Cuban todies in the world. This bird's call and song include beautiful whirring sounds.

Always a great day when we visit our roaster partners! We samples a couple new coffees from our farm with - general Manage and head roaster and barista . Amazing new cafe location in la Zona Colonial en Santo Domingo.

The Harvest or other wise knows as ‘la cosecha’ or ‘safra’ is in full swing at Spirit Mountain. Our harvest season lasts from November through April, 6 full months. This is due to the broad range of micro climates on the farm and the huge elevation change from the bottom to the top. The coffees growing close to the top at almost 5,000’ ripen last. Delvie, our plantation manager has been picking coffee on this farm since he was a kid, and now he needs oversees all farm operations. He still likes to get out there!

If you haven’t visited lately, we invite you to spend a few days disconnected from the relentless hurry of life and enjoy some amazing coffee with a great view. Thanks to our friends for sending some fresh roasted coffee from our special Parainema lot. I took it down with me on my recent trip to the farm and shared it with our team. This is always a lot of fun to share the craft from our rosters in the US and allow our crew that works so diligently to produce such amazing coffee to enjoy the fruits of their labor in this way.

Geisha : early fruiting three months after flowering. Cherries will begin to turn red in November and will be ready to start harvesting in December. These are three and a half year old Geisha. Seeds brought from Boquete Panama and Germinated at Spirit Mountain. We started with about 10,000 plants. This year we’ve started planting our second generation, from seed stock from our own plants.

Our second generation of Estate Geisha at Spirit Mountain has been planted at 4,500’ elevation. These coffee seeds were specifically harvested for their genetic qualities, based in their mother plants. These Geisha coffee plants will be 500-700 feet higher than our existing Geisha Lot.
