The Harvest or other wise knows as ‘la cosecha’ or ‘safra’ is in full swing at Spirit Mountain. Our harvest season lasts from November through April, 6 full months. This is due to the broad range of micro climates on the farm and the huge elevation change from the bottom to the top. The coffees growing close to the top at almost 5,000’ ripen last. Delvie, our plantation manager has been picking coffee on this farm since he was a kid, and now he needs oversees all farm operations. He still likes to get out there!
This is how we prepare our coffee at the Papagayo Perch, our Tree House on the farm. If you haven’t visited lately, we invite you to spend a few days disconnected from the relentless hurry of life and enjoy some amazing coffee with a great view. Thanks to our friends @cafeclement for sending some fresh roasted coffee from our special Parainema lot. I took it down with me on my recent trip to the farm and shared it with our team. Geisha : early fruiting three months after flowering. Cherries will begin to turn red in November and will be ready to start harvesting in December. These are three and a half year old Geisha. Seeds brought from Boquete Panama and Germinated at Spirit Mountain. We started with about 10,000 plants. This year we’ve started planting our second generation, from seed stock from our own plants.

Our second generation of Estate Geisha at Spirit Mountain has been planted at 4,500’ elevation. These coffee seeds were specifically harvested for their genetic qualities, based in their mother plants. These Geisha coffee plants will be 500-700 feet higher than our existing Geisha Lot.
