For this weekend we have prepared a wonderful hike in the highlands of Nabon, located in the south of Azuay Province, 1 hour from Cuenca.
This hike will allow us to admire the imposing Andean moor and appreciate the importance of preserving this fragile ecosystem. Don't miss this great adventure where we will combine the hike and a fun boat ride through the Curiquingue Lake, where interesting community tourism ventures have been created.

CAÑARI - INCA ARCHAEOLOGICAL TOUR

DATE: SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 23, 2024

This Saturday, November 23, our adventure will be in the Cañar Province, the archaeological capital of Ecuador to live an experience that combines beautiful natural scenery and the history of our Cañari and Inca ancestors.

Departing from Cuenca we head to Cojitambo Hill to take a fun hike and see its Inca ruins which was an ancient ceremonial and military center from where we have amazing views of the cities of Cuenca and Azogues.

Then we go to “Ingapirca Archaeological Complex”, the best preserved ruins in Ecuador that were the temple of worship of the sun. At this site, we will hike to the “Cara del Inca”, a face carved into the rock wall that symbolizes the importance of this site for the ancient Cañari Inca cultures.

After a delicious lunch, we go to El Tambo area where we will visit the “Coyoctor Ruins”, a site that was used for moon worship rituals.

From Cuenca we are preparing an incredible bird watching day towards the eastern Andean mountains. Visiting different ecosystems such as rainforest, cloud forest and Amazon forest, where we will make an easy hikes to admire birds such as tanagers, trogons, hummingbirds, the Andean C**k of the rock, a representative bird of the Amazon and more wildlife, accompanied by Agustin Carrasco, a great ornithologist from Ecuador.
We will also visit the Buglas Nature Reserve, a space created especially for birdwatching in the Limon Indanza Canton, two and a half hours from Cuenca.

Polylepis Hike Route
El Cajas National Park

This time we will visit our beautiful El Cajas National Park, on an adventure from the popular Laguna Toreadora we will descend towards the Sanctuary of the Virgen del Cajas, on a fun hike that allows us to cross the magical forest of Polylepis, a representative species of the national park, we will also be able to admire the abundant yellow bushes of Xynoxys, a plant that is in bloom in July to September.
