Another beautiful day in the Enchanted Islands. Today, we have Diego showing us how to fly a Galapagos kite: 100% eco-friendly, pre-assembled, self-steering, and majestically aerodynamic.

When you're exploring the Galapagos, one of the most important things to remember is to respect nature. This incredible archipelago is home to some of the world’s most unique wildlife, and preserving that beauty is key to keeping it thriving for future generations.
Remember, 2 meters (6 feet) is a safe distance for everyone.

Did you notice something on the branches? They sure did.
What would you say.... Is this a peaceful morning encounter in a utopian paradise, or a 'don't even think about it—turn around' moment? 🤔

Have you hugged a Cactus?
Did you know?
Have you hugged a Cactus?
You should hug an Opuntia CactusDid you know?* The Opuntia cactus has origins from the South American continent and evolved into a new species in the Galapgos Islands* The Opuntia cactus is a major food source for Giant Tortoises, Land Iguanas and many species of birds*
Typically the Opuntia cactus can grow between 6-10 feet tall but the largest have been found to reach up to 39 tall and over 3 feet thick! That’s a lot of prickly love!!! 🌵 #cactuslove#onlyingalapagos#mygalapagos#didyouknow#galapagosfacts#galapagosalternative #galapagoslandtours#galapagosopuntiacactus#galapagosfromtheinside#galapagosislandtour

Sierra Negra Minas de Azufre
Sierra Negra volcano is an example of a shield volcano and is estimated to be over 700,000 years old. Shield volcanos like Sierra Negra and Hawaii´s Muna Kea are formed by effusion of low viscocity lava which give them their gradually sloping sides. Sierra Negra is one of the 6 volcanoes that comprise the landmass of Isabela Island. The Sierra Negra volcano has had 13 eruptions with the latest in 2018. We offer two hiking options to check out this natural phenomenon. The latest offering is to the defunct Minas de Azufre, of sulfur mines located in the heart of one of the world’s largest calderas. Come take a walk with us!

Galapagos Hammerhead Sharks
Scalloped Hammerhead Sharks are easily the most recognizable sharks in the Galapagos Islands. Their funky hammer shape is clled a cephalofoil and it has been found to aid in vision and sensory perception. Due to their hammer-like head, these sharks possess a nearly 360 field of view, though, oddly, they cannot see directly in front. Baby hammerheads pups are live-born and there is no post-natal care from the mother. As such they are on their own. For protection they are birthed in shallow waters to prevent predation. Playa Mansa in Tortuga Bay is an excelent place to encounter these tool-shaped beauties.

All U Can Eat Salad Bar Galapagos Style
There are 11 subspecies of Marine Iguana in the Galapagos Islands. These iguanas are the only known to have adapted to a sea weed diet. Some adults forage in the bigger surf but juveniles tend to feed closer to shore. Like all iguanas, the seaweed salad eaters of the Galapagos are cold blooded. To preserve their body temperature, these reptiles can reduce their heart rate by half when they enter the ocean. After their open-water feast, they can often be seen sunning themselves and spitting salt out of their nostrils.

Golden Ray Flash Mob
Schools of Golden Cownose Rays are common sightings in Academy Bay, Puerto Ayora. Though there are over 15 species of rays in the Galapagos, Golden Rays are easily identified by their golden coloring. Hence their nomenclature is apropos. Golden Rays can be encountered on a number of days tours, but they also tend to hang around the protected shallows of Academy Bay, as do juvenile black-tipped sharks.
We can sort you out with a beauty of Galapagos Tour if you want to get to know these and other amazing local characters of the Galapagos.

Las Tintoreras is the Galapagos term for white-tipped reef sharks. They are one of the most ubiquitous shark species in the Galapagos. Nocturnal by nature they can be found lounging about in caves and grietas (grottos) during the day, often one atop another. These sharks tend to return to the same locations to sleep and two of these sites have been named Las Tintoreras, appropriately. Therefore you should go to Las Tintoreras to see las tintoreras (White-Tipped Reef Sharks) in the Galapagos Islands. These sites are easily accessible by half day tours on Santa Cruz and Isabela.
Come let us introduce you to some of our local athletes.
