Graells's tamarin in Ecuador
Graells's tamarin, Saguinus nigricollis graellsi, is a subspecies of the black-mantled tamarin from the northwestern Amazon in southeastern Colombia, eastern Ecuador and northeastern Peru. It differs from other black-mantled tamarins in having a dull olive-brown (no reddish-orange) lower back, rump and thighs. However, molecular genetic analysis does not support treating Graell's tamarin as a separate species from the black-mantled tamarin. Source of information: https://animalia.bio/graellss-tamarin

mindo butterfly garden
Adult butterflies have large, often brightly colored wings and striking, fluttering flight. Butterfly fossils date from the Paleocene, about 56 million years ago.
Butterflies have a four-stage life cycle, as, like most insects, they undergo complete metamorphosis. The winged adults lay eggs on the food plant that their larvae, known as caterpillars, feed on. The caterpillars grow, sometimes very rapidly, and when fully developed they pupate in a chrysalis. When metamorphosis is complete, the pupal skin is split, the adult insect comes out, and once its wings have expanded and dried, it flies away.
Some butterflies, especially in the tropics, have several generations in a year, while others have only one generation, and some in cold places can take several years to go through their entire life cycle.
Butterflies use camouflage, mimicry, and aposematism to evade their predators. Some, like the monarch and the painted lady, migrate long distances. Many butterflies are attacked by parasites or parasitoids, including wasps, protozoa, flies, and other invertebrates, or are preyed upon by other organisms. Some species are pests because in their larval stages they can damage crops or domestic trees; other species are pollinating agents for some plants.
The larvae of some butterflies eat harmful insects and some are ant predators, while others live as mutualists in association with ants. Culturally, butterflies are a popular motif in the visual and literary arts. The Smithsonian Institution says that "butterflies are without a doubt one of the most attractive creatures in nature."

Agouti or Paca or Guatuso, inhabits in Central America, some islands in the Caribbean, and in the northern and central parts of South America, from the Andes mountain range and from Colombia to the jungle areas of northeastern Argentina, in subtropical and tropical forests, although it is adapted to savannas and cultivated fields.
They feed on fruits and seeds, especially palms, also on tubers and grass shoots. It tends to bury seeds every time it feeds, to eat them when there is a shortage. They dig burrows with several galleries of more than 60 cm, covering the entrances with branches and leaves.
They are diurnal, most active in the early morning and late afternoon, they take refuge at night in burrows. When threatened by human presence, they can adopt nocturnal habits. They mark the limits of their territory, the routes, the feeders and the burrow with the smell produced by a pair of inverted glands that they have in the perianum and with the urine.
They are monogamous. During courtship the male dances frantically in front of the female and sprays her with urine, until finally the female accepts him. The gestation period lasts an average of 103 days and 2 to 4 young are born at each delivery. Weaning occurs between 4 and 5 months of age.
