Graells's tamarin in Ecuador
Graells's tamarin, Saguinus nigricollis graellsi, is a subspecies of the black-mantled tamarin from the northwestern Amazon in southeastern Colombia, eastern Ecuador and northeastern Peru. It differs from other black-mantled tamarins in having a dull olive-brown (no reddish-orange) lower back, rump and thighs. However, molecular genetic analysis does not support treating Graell's tamarin as a separate species from the black-mantled tamarin. Source of information: https://animalia.bio/graellss-tamarin

Andean cock of the rock bird lek in Mindo
Andean cock of the rock bird lek in Mindo. A lek in birding is a historical (decades) place where not all birds, just few birds meet for the bird display, usually the female is in the lek, and when she is all the males do their best display to attract her atention. This bird (Andean cock of the rock bird - Rupicola Peruvianus) is only found in the Andes of South America. In Ecuador there are 2 types of them, one kind in the East (orange-rupicola aequatorialis) and the other on the West (red - rupicola sanguinolenta).
