Underwater. Do you agree?
Moray Eel
Have you seen an eel out of its hiding place?
Watching a moray eel swim freely is a rare and mesmerizing sight! These incredible creatures are usually tucked away in crevices, but every so often, they treat us to a graceful swim in the open.
Have you had the chance to encounter one on a dive? Let us know! 💙
Ever wondered how deep the dive sites are in the Galapagos Islands?
With abundant wildlife in the waters here, we don't have to dive deep to find life. Most dives are under 18 metres allowing all levels to dive.
Depending where you dive, the sites can range from 10 meters (30 feet) to 30 meters (100 feet), depending on the location. Some sites may be challenging too, but the experience is worth it!

Everywhere you look!
It would take a lot to be disappointed with scuba diving in the Galapagos Islands. One minute you're watching a school of rays glide past, the next some hammerheads appear from the depths, and before you know it a sea lion playfully shoots by.
It's on many divers bucket list for a reason! When are you visiting?
What are they doing?
Whilst at North Seymour Island for our day's diving we got to witness pilot whales that were hangin out in the water. Resting perhaps? What do you think?
The Galapagos is a diver’s dream! From hammerhead sharks, rays, turtles and sea lions underwater to dolphins and even whales at the surface, the experience starts the moment you step on board.

What's a holiday without scuba diving?!
Luckily you can do it all in the Galapagos islands and from Santa Cruz alone there are different land and dive trips every day. Why not have it all? See our tour options here https://s.mtrbio.com/tseiikbmea
The more dive experience you have, the better.
Galapagos has some strong currents which can make some of the sites for advanced divers. Open Water certification is a minimum, but Advanced Open Water is recommended. It opens up more dive sites and lets you fully enjoy deeper experiences.
If you'd like to try diving for the first time or haven't dived for a while then we can help with a discovery or refresher dive so you can join us too and see the magic underwater too!

Here's the truth about diving in the Galapagos Islands.
You can't really get it wrong, diving in the Galapagos Islands is incredible all year-round with constant life and exciting sightings. You won't be dissapointed no matter when you visit!
That said, depending on your preferences there are some factors to consider when planning your Galapagos dive trip. If you want warmer waters, hotter weather and calmer seas, visit December-June. The other six months of the year is "Gurua" season with greyer skies, light rains (Gurua) and cooler, rougher seas.
Surface temperature usually stays at 18 – 25c (64 – 77f) all year round. In contrast, temperatures at depth can reach 13 Celsius (56 Fahrenheit) in thermoclines or in colder parts of the Galapagos archipelago. Thermoclines in the Galapagos usually occur between 12 – 18 meters (40 – 60 feet). Thermoclines also affect visibility
