Now you don’t have to imagine that exotic utopia, you can see it for yourself! Our Shangri-La is the ideal atmosphere of peace and the feeling of being in your own private sanctuary, while allowing you to discover the Enchanted Islands of Galapagos at your own pace. We are located in a secluded area of Santa Cruz Island called Punta Estrada, an "auto-free" zone a short aqua taxi ride across Academ

y Bay from Puerto Ayora and only footsteps away from Playa de Los Alemanes. It is like your home away from home. Relax by the pool and relish the spectacular views from the terrace or the roof top deck. When you visit Shangri-La, and the Galapagos you will agree the Islands of Galapagos are the world’s best island destinations. On most cruises, Puerto Ayora is only a stop, it should be a destination. Santa Cruz Island location makes for a perfect vacation. While there you can enjoy a verity of activates, along with day trips to nearby islands. Shangri-La is the perfect place for friends, and family to appreciate all of the beauty The Galapagos Islands has to offer. Footsteps from Shangri-La is Playa las Alemanes ( German Beach ), and a about a 20 minute hike to Las Grietas. Las Grietas is a spectacular saltwater grotto with high lava walls that are popular for snorkeling. Being "land based" on Santa Cruz gives you many vacation options. You can visit North Seymour, Plaza, Santa Fe , Bartolome, and Floreana on day tours. There are also many other fabulous places to see on Santa Cruz Island on the day you choose not to tour.

This happens in Galápagos all of the time.
Sea lions love to explore.
I’m glad it was rescued from our busy San Diego freeway.

A sea lion made its way onto a San Diego highway Friday morning, and drivers stopped to help before a SeaWorld rescue crew arrived to bring it to safety.

We might have lost “Hope” but we will never lose our faith!
Hope, Esperanza in Spanish a female whale shark tagged in the Galapagos Islands in Sept. 2019 had been tracked for over 270 days before her transmission suddenly stopped in May.

Her last known location was directly in the path of another world wide pandemic called the Chinese Fishing Fleets that has been draining our oceans of its precious treasures for years.

Hope is just one of their many victims.

Currently there are approximately 260 Chinese commercial vessels sounding the Galapagos Islands.

What marine life they are not killing with their overfishing they are eventually killing with the TONS of environmental waste they are offloading into our oceans.
This time of year it happens in South America when the mixed currents bring an abundance of marine life in the area.

Other times of the year the rest of our plant is threatened.

We all must work together to STOP this destruction of our priceless oceans.
