The Basilica of the National Vow (Spanish: Basílica del Voto Nacional) is a Roman Catholic church located in the historic center of Quito, Ecuador. It is the largest neo-Gothic basilica in the Americas.

According to some legends and beliefs: This basílica was not finished due to the superstition that talks about the end of Quito coming up if this structure was finished.

This is one of the astonishing views that our participants enjoyed during our Social & Environmental School group trip.

We took the opportunity not only to hike but also to give something back to nature. Our students planted about 300 new trees all along the way to this view spot. The commitment had the best reward at the end.

“We had the most amazing time on this thoughtfully created experience. 1. Pre-experience communication was informative and timely. From what to bring to creating a central pick up location for all the people in our group. 2. Jorge is a welcoming guide and fully bilingual (English,Spanish and maybe more) 3. The experience itself is so well planned, from the purchasing of snacks, restroom opportunities and the chance to buy some souvenir additional layers for the day’s activities. 4. You will get some of the best pictures you’ve ever gotten on a vacation and you will be thrilled in the process! The Horses Are all nice little criollos sporting a variety of well worn authentic Ecuadorian cowboy gear. The wranglers are sure to tell you to use the reins lightly as they use a bit with a long shank. But no horse had any saddle sores or white hairs where they shouldn’t. (They unsaddled them after our ride and they were all headed out to roam free and graze!) So we horse lovers can relax and appreciate these wonderful little horses out in their element with them! The Mountain Path It’s a rugged journey, ain’t gonna lie, but man it is SO worth it! And….the cocoa reward up top is like winning a trophy. You’ll see. Walk slow, slow, slow. That’s how it’s done. The Naturalist She was ready with all the info you want from a deeply personal perspective. Her town is at the foot of the mountain and have lived in the region for generations.
