Their Flowers and Fruit Festival is outstanding!

Their citizens are proud to show the world their most beautiful flowers and fruits in different parades.

Thousands gather in the small Ecuadorean town Ambato, located just outside of Quito, to celebrate the Festival of Fruit and Flowers, an annual parade held as part of the Carnival festivities.

The following is one of our guest’s review: “This hotel is at the very heart of historical centre, the location is just perfect. I stayed at a private room with shared bathroom which was facing one of the little busy streets of the historic centre and it was amazing at times just to watch people or experience things that are specific to historic centre such as early morning marches of people singing and holding candles( guess it was a religion thing or mourning after the death of a loved one). The famous La Ronda street is 5 mins walk where you can go at nights to have drinks or dinner. I felt safe here but after all the warnings I refrained to walk around after 9:00 pm and took a cheap taxi if I wanted to go somewhere like Foch Plaza etc... The hotel management was super attentive and nice and they helped me to store my valuables and helped with everything that I’ve asked of. I stayed a total of 6 nights and am glad I preferred this place. There are things that could have been better about the hotel but this is a budget place so I believe it is perfect considering everything.”

Several days of political unrest in Ecuador ended on 13 October when the government and indigenous movements reached an agreement.

The country has returned to normality very quickly. On the morning of 14 October, roadblocks were lifted across the country. The authorities have confirmed that 100% of the roads and highways in the country are passable.

Quito airport and the roads connecting it to the city are fully functional. Guayaquil airport is operational, as it has been throughout this period. All airlines have reinstated their flight operations. All travel to, from and in Galapagos, continues unaffected.

My friends and I loved this hostel! It was better than we had imagined, and for a great price. Our room had a small balcony and the rooftop provided a gorgeous view of Quito! The hostel was also safe, as the manager decided whom to let into the hostel. The manager was nice and accommodating to all of our needs! The location of the hostel allows a short walk to La Ronda Street (bars, restaurants, etc.), only a 2.5 mile taxi ride to La Plaza Foch (also a place to experience nightlife), and on the corner of the San Francisco Plaza (a site for the Hop-On-Hop-Off city bus tour of Quito). We would absolutely recommend, and stay again if we're in Quito!
