Aglaiocercus es un género de aves apodiformes de la familia Trochilidae (los colibríes) que agrupa a tres especies nativas de América del Sur

Sus áreas de distribución se encuentran a lo largo principalmente de la cordillera de los Andes, entre el norte de Venezuela y el centro oeste de Bolivia. A sus miembros se les conoce por el nombre común de silfos.

En Ecuador tenemos 2 de estás especies, distribuidas en las dos cordilleras principales del país.

Mindo Nambillo Forest

With an elevation that ranges between 1 180 m to 4 780 m, the Mindo-Nambillo Ecological Reserve offers the average visitors something different. The main feature of this reserve is the Mindo-Nambillo Cloud Forest, which stretches out over 19 200 hectares and is situated near the small village of Mindo. Which is just north of Quito.

We do tours to this forest every day when we can hike to see waterfalls, watch butterflies and hummingbirds or visit one of the local chocolate factories.

The Rose face Parrot is found from the central part of Colombia's Choco south through western Ecuador. It inhabits humid to wet forest, mature secundary forest, plantations, and more open areas with scattered trees. In forest it tends to stay in the canopy. In elevation it mostly occurs below 1,200 m (3,900 ft) but locally is found as high as 2,100 m (6,900 ft).

The chestnut-mandibled toucan or Swainson's toucan (Ramphastos ambiguus swainsonii) is a subspecies of the yellow-throated toucan which breeds from eastern Honduras to northern Colombia to western Ecuador.

The male is 56 cm long, while the smaller female is typically 52 cm long. Weight ranges from 599 to 746 grams.

This is one of the birds that we see in Antisana tour.

Shining Sunbeam is found in all three Andean ranges of Colombia and south from there through Ecuador to Peru.

The species inhabits sub-páramo to páramo, landscapes characterized by grasslands with scattered shrubs and trees. It also inhabits cloudforest and semi-arid ridges with a few trees. In elevation it ranges from 2,500 to 4,300 m (8,200 to 14,100 ft).

Peguche town is a quiet and chill place in Otavalo área. A walking in the área will introduce you to the local atmosphere.

There are murals that represents the Andean cosmology, local traditions and the daily life in the small town.

There are some thing to do in the village like a nice hike to the Peguche waterfall, visit the local crafts stores and hear the local music with the air instruments just like Rondador.
