Meet the majestic and long-lived giant tortoises of the Galapagos aboard our cruises with the West Expedition itinerary. 🌴

During the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries, it is estimated that more than 100,000 tortoises were exterminated by pirates, whalers and traders. 🏴‍☠️

In 1959, the Ecuadorian government 🇪🇨 created the Galapagos National Park to protect the habitat of these tortoises. 🌱 In 2012, the death of Lonesome George, a 100-year-old giant tortoise, became a global symbol of the need to protect endangered species. 🌎❤️
