December Weather & Wildlife Galapagos Islands:
Temperature between 22 °C and 27°C. Hatching of giant tortoise eggs begins. Green sea turtles display their mating behavior. The rainy season begins; all of the plants of the dry zone produce leaves. The young waved albatross begins to fly.

GOOD NEWS TO ENTER ECUADOR & THE GALAPAGOS ISLANDS:
From October 23rd, the requirements to enter Ecuador & the Galapagos Islands will be as follows for all travelers over 2 years’ old:
A vaccination certificate (with all the required doses), dated at least 14 days before the Galapagos flight OR a certificate of a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours of the Galapagos flight.

Wildlife in August:
The whales and penguins and dolphins can be spotted in August as well as the sea lions.
Galápagos hawks make their appearance as also do the giant tortoises and the lava lizards.
Tortoises lay eggs in the wild in the highlands.
The sea birds are busy feeding their chicks
The flightless cormorants, penguins and the greater flamingos are nesting and breeding.
The red footed bo***es and the blue footed bo***es and the Nazca bo***es are nesting and breeding this month.
Waved albatrosses are nesting on Espanola.

Updated requirements COVID-19 for Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands (June 2, 2021):

Travelers who carry a vaccination certificate, that proves they have received the complete COVID-19 vaccine doses, can enter Ecuador without a negative PCR test. Travelers that don´t have the respective vaccine, must have a negative PCR test to enter Ecuador, with a validity of up to three days before their arrival.

In order to enter the Galapagos Islands, travelers who carry a vaccination certificate, that proves they have received the complete COVID-19 vaccine doses can enter the islands without a negative PCR test.

The traveler who doesn´t have a vaccination certificate, need to present a negative result of a RT-PCR test performed up to 96 hours prior to enter the Galapagos Islands.

Galapagos News Vaccinations!!
Over the next two weeks, Ecuador's Ministry of Health will vaccinate more people in the Galapagos Islands, bringing the total to 30% of the population. Authorities have also pledged to vaccinate 100% of the archipelago's population over 18 by the end of May.
