Capac Urcu, also known as El Altar, is a stratovolcano located in Ecuador's Chimborazo Province. It is notable for its impressive caldera, formed by a major eruption around 800 years ago, which has resulted in several distinct peaks. The highest peak, known as "Obispo," reaches about 5,319 meters (17,450 feet).

The volcano is part of the Andes mountain range and is surrounded by lush biodiversity, making it a popular destination for hikers and climbers. Altar is also considered one of Ecuador's most beautiful volcanoes due to its unique formations and picturesque landscapes, including glacial lakes and diverse ecosystems.
