Ecuador north east took another beating over the weekend with a bunch more aftershocks including one 6.3 on Jul 10th. In all there have been over 2,100 aftershocks sinch the 7.8 in April 16th. snip.ly/55med

Hooray! The magnificent humpback whales are back. First sightings last week at Punta Carnero and La Choclatera. Whale watching tour operators in Salinas just started setting up their tents on the beach $20-25 / head. Got my binoculars at the ready, for when they move up the coast any day now!

Puerto Chino, on San Cristobal has the finest powdery white sand on the island. Sometimes it gets covered with a thin layer of algae washed up by the sea, making it green. You can see it uncovered by the fin marks from this sea lion.
