Rio Moto is a campground run by Scott Nelson, an adventure motorcycle rider. The property is in the beginning stage and is being built with motorcycle riders and overland travelers in mind. Right now, you can experience a tranquil spot in a warm, mostly dry valley with views of a river and mountains, about 15 minutes from Vilcabamba’s central square. There are several camping spots that are best reached by adventure bikes, space for a few overland vehicles to pull-in, and a small casita. Here’s what you can expect: • Free, fast, Wi-Fi • Access to washer and dryer (for fee) • Shower with hot water • Toilets and separate sink and mirror area • Fire pit area with grill • Scott is a mechanic (for fee) • $10 for one person to camp in a tent or an overland vehicle to park • $5 for each additional person • $20 for the casita that comes with: kitchen table and 2 chairs, sturdy hooks to hang your gear, hot & cold tap water in the sink, 2-burner propane stove, some cooking equipment, and mat on a cement floor where you can put your sleeping pad(s) and bag(s). Take a look at the photos in the Facebook album to see it. RESERVATION ONLY (For now.) Email: [email protected] WhatsApp message: 099-020-0194 IMPORTANT: There is NO CELL SERVICE available at Rio Moto. DIRECTIONS: GPS Coordinates: 4°16’8” S 79°17’18”W Traveling south on Highway 682 into Vilcabamba, turn RIGHT at Hosteria Vilcabamba (there is no street sign, you’ll see a billboard for the city and a green sign with several small town names like Moyo Cocha). Stay on this asphalt road for 10 KM and look for the Rio Moto sign on the right. If you see the sign that says Solanda, you just passed Rio Moto.
