Our Story
Bioteaduste Üliõpilaste Selts on organisatsioon, mis koondab enda alla bakalauruse ja magistritaseme bioteadusüliõpilased.
Seltsi peamisteks eesmärkideks on bioteadusi õppivate tudengite erialaste oskuste ning vastava õppe- ja teadustöö arendamine. Nende eesmärkideni jõudmiseks on seltsis loodud 7 töögruppi:
1) Õpirände töögrupp - rahvusvaheliste partnerülikoolide ning organisatsioonidega suhete loomine ja arendamine
2) Teaduse populariseerimise töögrupp - omab eesmärki bioteaduste propageerimises teadus- ja tegevusvaldkonnana
3) Tugitudengite töögrupp - peamiselt I aasta üliõpilastele mõeldud järeleaitamise süsteem, millele aitavad kaasa vanemate kursuste üliõpilased
4) Liikmehalduse töögrupp - tegeleb eelkõige BÜSi siseste ürituste korraldamisega ning liikmete vastuvõtmisega seltsi
5) Bioettevõtluse töögrupp - peamine eesmärk on bioteaduste tudengite ettevõtlusoskuste arendamine
6) Sponsorluse töögrupp - tegeleb seltsile sponsorite otsmisega ning liikmete harimisega antud valdkonnas
7) Disainigrupp - loob kõigile seltsi korraldatavatele üritustele kaunid reklaamplakatid

Bioscience Students’ Association (BSA, Bioteaduste Üliõpilaste Selts or BÜS in Estonian), founded in April 2013, is an organisation consisting of students of biosciences, who mostly study genetic engineering, biomedicine, molecular biology or cell biology.
The aim of this association is to improve the studies and scientific work in the field of biosciences in Estonia.
Our main goals are:
• developing and enhancing the curricula of biosciences
• improving the possibility of international studies
• popularising the field of biosciences
• building connections between our association and Estonian or foreign organisations, which could help us in promoting our field
BSA members can contribute to the sustainability of our association by participating actively in the work of our working groups while gaining invaluable experience in organising different events, public speaking and communicating with different people. These 7 working groups are:
1) Working group for studying abroad – the goal of this working group is to create relationships with international partner universities and organisations
2) Science popularisation working group – the goal of this working group is to promote science and scientific thinking. They organise regular seminars on current or interesting topics that are free for all.
3) Working group of mentor students – the goal of this working group is to help new bachelor students with their studies and problems during their first year. This also facilitates communication between students on different years and bridges the gap between them
4) Member management working group – this group concentrates mostly on welcoming new students into BSA and organising fun events for our members
5) Bioentrepreneurship working group – the aim of this group is to develop entrepreneurial skills of our members
6) Sponsorship working group – the goal of this working group is to find sponsors for our association as well as educate our members in this certain field
7) Working group of designers – this group makes sure that all our events get well designed posters and headers
