The Egyptian Museum in Tahrir, which opened in 1902, is celebrating, today, its 121st anniversary as the oldest archaeological museum in the Middle East.
Home to thousands of priceless Egyptian artefacts, it houses the largest collection of ancient Egyptian antiquities in the world, including the famous Narmer Palette, royal statuary and artefacts from the age of the pyramid builders, the funerary collection of Yuya and Thuya, the grandparents of King Akhenaten, the treasures of Tanis, an extensive range of animal mummies, papyri, coffins and jewellery from different periods.

Egypt Air to resume Cairo-Tokyo direct flights by September 2023:

Egypt's flagship carrier Egypt Air is set to resume its direct route from International Airport to Narita International Airport in , starting next September, according to a statement by the Ministry of Civil Aviation on Monday.

This statement was made during a meeting between the Egyptian ambassador to Japan, Oka Hiroshi, and the Minister of Civil Aviation, Mohamed Abbas Helmy, to discuss mutual cooperation and different issues pertaining to civil aviation activities.

Sharm El Sheikh receives the first direct flight from Tel Aviv

On Sunday, the first direct flight took off between Tel Aviv in Israel and the Egyptian resort of Sharm el-Sheikh, the Israeli national airline El Al confirmed, France 24 reported.
"Flight 5193 took off from Ben Gurion Airport shortly after 7 am GMT," the company said in a statement.
The inauguration of these flights comes after two visits by the Israeli Prime Minister to Egypt, during which he met the Egyptian President. Last October, a plane bearing the logo of the official carrier "EgyptAir" landed on a flight described as "historic".
Direct flights between Tel Aviv and Cairo, which signed a peace agreement in 1979, go back many years ago.
However, the flights were operated by the Sinai Air Company, which was established for this purpose exclusively, without placing the Egyptian flag on the external structure of its planes.
