The Pharaonic Mosque... A sight you won't see anywhere except in Luxor! 😄
Imagine praying inside a Pharaonic temple thousands of years old?
Yes, it's very possible at the Abu al-Hajjaj Mosque in Luxor, built in 1286 AD on top of the walls and columns of the Pharaonic Luxor Temple!

And even stranger?
Inside the mosque, you'll find massive columns dating back to the time of King Ramses II, with his name still engraved on them to this day!
This means that as you stand praying, you'll be surrounded by relics from the era of the Pharaohs, the Romans, and the Christians, until the arrival of Islam and the end of the journey at the mosque.

This mosque is not only a historical marvel; it's also an architectural masterpiece!
Its design resembles Fatimid mosques, and its mud-brick minaret is one of the oldest parts, dating back to the era of Sheikh Abu al-Hajjaj himself, resembling ancient Upper Egyptian minarets.
