Virtual Tour (360 photo) Great Hypostyle Hall
The Great Hypostyle Hall is located within the Karnak temple complex, in the Precinct of Amon-Re. It is one of the most visited monuments of Ancient Egypt. The structure was built around the 19th Egyptian Dynasty (c. 1290โ€“1224 BC). Its design was initially instituted by Hatshepsut, at the North-west chapel to Amun in the upper terrace of Deir el-Bahri. The name refers to hypostyle architectural pattern.

The Great Hypostyle Hall covers an area of 5,000 m2 (54,000 sq ft). The roof, now fallen, was supported by 134 columns in 16 rows; the 2 middle rows are higher than the others (being 10 metres (33 ft) in circumference and 24 metres (79 ft) high).

The 134 papyrus columns represent the primeval papyrus swamp from which Amun, a self-created deity, arose from the waters of chaos at the beginning of creating.

The hall was not constructed by Horemheb, or Amenhotep III as earlier scholars had thought but was built entirely by Seti I who engraved the northern wing of the hall with inscriptions. Decoration of the southern wing was completed by the 19th dynasty pharaoh Ramesses II.

Virtual Tour (360 photo) Burial site of Ramesses V & Ramesses VI

Tomb KV9 in Egypt's Valley of the Kings was originally constructed by Pharaoh Ramesses V. He was interred here, but his uncle, Ramesses VI, later reused the tomb as his own. The layout is typical of the 20th dynasty โ€“ the Ramesside period โ€“ and is much simpler than that of Ramesses III's tomb (KV11). The workmen accidentally broke into KV12 as they dug one of the corridors.

The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities is to launch tonight at 8:00 pm a new virtual tour for
โ€Žโ€The Funerary Complex of King Unas.

The tour will be posted on the ministryโ€™s official website and social media platforms.

โ€Žโ€The tonightโ€™s tour is for the Funerary Complex of King Unas (c.โ€ช2375โ€“2345โ€ฌ BC), the last king of the Fifth Dynasty. It contains all the components of the royal funerary complex of the Old Kingdom. It includes the valley temple, mortuary temple, the causeway connecting them, and the pyramid itself. The entrance to the pyramid is located on its north side. A descending corridor leads to a hall, then to a horizontal gallery ending in an antechamber with three small magazines on its left. On the right is the burial chamber, which contains the oldest known Pyramid Texts. These are religious inscriptions that helped the deceased king in his resurrection and guide him to reach the sun god Ra in the sky.
โ€Žโ€The mortuary temple, dedicated to the performance of religious rituals for the king after his death, is located on the east side of the pyramid. It contains a court with columns, the sanctuary, the altar, and a number of magazines.

โ€Žโ€From 1899 to 1903, excavations took place in the area surrounding the pyramid, which led to the discovery of numerous shaft tombs from the Twentysixth (664โ€“525 BC) and Twentyseventh Dynasties (525โ€“404 BC), as well as the tomb of King Hetepsekhemwy, the founder of the Second Dynasty (c.2890 BC), which lies directly beneath the mortuary temple. This tomb consists of a 50meterlong corridor sculpted in the rock that has 80 storage rooms on its left and right.
