Thoth, (Greek), Egyptian Djhuty

In Egyptian religion, a god of the moon, of reckoning, of learning, and of writing.
He was held to be the inventor of writing, the creator of languages, the scribe, interpreter, and adviser of the gods, and the representative of the sun god, Re.
His responsibility for writing was shared with the goddess Seshat.
The cult of Thoth was centred in the town of Khmunu (Hermopolis; modern Al-Ashmūnayn) in Upper Egypt.

Thoth was also known by specific aspects of himself, for instance the Moon god Iah-Djehuty (j3ḥ-ḏḥw.ty), representing the Moon for the entire month.

Monastery is a Coptic Orthodox monastery named after an Egyptian saint called Pishay (who is not to be confused with the famous Saint Pishoy). It is located near the Upper Egyptian city of Souhag, and about two and a half miles (4.0 km) north-west of the White Monastery. The name of the monastery is derived from the colour of the construction material of its outside walls, consisting of red (burnt) brick. These walls are considerably thicker at the base than at the top, and, just like the walls of Ancient Egyptian temples, they are surmounted by cavetto moldings. The Red Monastery is architecturally similar to the White Monastery

A scene from a tomb of Userhat called Neferhabef, First Prophet of Thutmose, Sheikh Abd el-Qurna, Period (Early 19th Dynasty), tomb TT 51 at Sheikh Abd el-Qurna.
the register now portrays the scene at the tomb, although there is no dividing line. Two women, who have their backs to those greeting the procession, also pour dust on their heads. They face two coffins, which stand in front of the tomb. A lector, who stands behind the priest who wears a leopard-skin over his white garment, reads the "hotep di nisut" formula, which includes: "An offering which the king gives…" and ending with Userhat's name, the divine sanction and blessing at burial. The priest officiates with his libation vessel and fumigation pipe. A table in front of them contains food and vases, which the libation pours over.

This is an extraordinarily graceful statue from the Eighteenth Dynasty, and is arguably one of the finest such small statues of this period.
Note that the face, surmounted by a heavy three part wig, is slightly large in proportion to the rest of the figure.
The robe has just one sleeve with the right arm held at her side bare. This statue would have served as part of her funerary assemblage.

King Thutmose III embraced by the goddess Mut, detail from the pillar of Upper Egypt, one of the two granite heraldic pillars erected by Thutmose III in the front of his Hall of Annals at Karnak.

Thutmose III (variously also spelt Tuthmosis or Thothmes) was the sixth pharaoh of the Eighteenth Dynasty. Officially, Thutmose III ruled Egypt for almost 54 years and his reign is usually dated from 28 April 1479 BC to 11 March 1425 BC, from the age of two and until his death at age fifty-six; however, during the first 22 years of his reign, he was coregent with his stepmother and aunt, Hatshepsut, who was named the pharaoh.
While he was shown first on surviving monuments, both were assigned the usual royal names and insignia and neither is given any obvious seniority over the other.
Thutmose served as the head of Hatshepsut's armies.
During the final two years of his reign, he appointed his son and successor, Amenhotep II, as his junior co-regent.
His firstborn son and heir to the throne, Amenemhat, predeceased Thutmose III.

’Princess with sistrum at Abydos.’

The north wall of the First Court of the Seti I Temple at Abydos is decorated with a procession of princesses, daughters of Ramses II.
This relief detail shows one of these princesses holding a sistrum, which is decorated with the head of the goddess Hathor.
The sistrum was a ritual musical instrument that produced a rustling sound which was thought to please Hathor.
The tiny plates, which would make the sound, are visible here, mounted on three rods within an elliptical frame.
The princess wears an elaborate side lock.
The youth side lock was worn by Egyptian children until the age of about fourteen.

The Seti Temple at Abydos was begun by Seti I and completed by his son Ramses II in the 13th century BC.
