Today, Egypt celebrates the entry of the Holy Family to Egypt, on June 1st.

تحتفل مصر اليوم، الموافق الأول من يونيو، بذكرى دخول العائلة المقدسة إلى مصر، والتي استقرت بها لمدة أربع سنوات، توقفت خلالها بعدة مواقع في سيناء، ومرورًا بالدلتا، ثم الانتقال جنوبًا حتى أسيوط.

وتقوم الحكومة المصرية، حاليًا بمشروع ترميم وتطوير 25 موقعًا أثريًا لمسار العائلة المقدسة في مصر، حيث تم افتتاح عدد من هذه المواقع بمحافظات القاهرة، وكفر الشيخ، والغربية، والشرقية، والبحيرة، والمنيا، وذلك بعد الانتهاء من تطويرها وترميمها.

ويأتي هذا المشروع الوطني في إطار جهود الحكومة المصرية للحفاظ على تلك المواقع التاريخية الهامة، والترويج للسياحة الدينية في مصر.

وفي عام 2022، تم تسجيل الاحتفالات المتعلقة برحلة العائلة المقدسة في مصر إلى قائمة التراث العالمي غير المادي باليونسكو.

Today, Egypt celebrates the entry of the Holy Family to Egypt, on June 1st.

The Holy Family traveled from Palestine to Egypt through Sinai and into the Delta, and then moved as far south as Asyut. They spent almost four years in Egypt.

The Egyptian government has announced a project to restore and renovate 25 holy sites that were stopping points for the Holy Family during its time in Egypt. Various stops have been fully restored and open for visitation in various governorates such as Cairo, Kafr al-Sheikh, Al-Gharbeyyah, Al-Sharqiyyah, Al-Beheirah, and Al-Minya.

This national project is part of the government’s efforts to preserve such historic sites, benefit local communities, and promote religious tourism.

The festivals related to the Journey of the Holy Family were added to the UNESCO Intangible Heritage List in 2022.
