The Hanging church; the most famous site in Coptic Cairo is the Church of the Virgin Mary, better known by (The Hanging Church).

This name comes from the fact that it was built atop the walls of the 4th century BC Roman fortress of Babylon, the remains of which are still visible about Coptic Cairo.

The church dates from the 9th century, but the site is thought to have first been occupied by the church as early as the 4th century AD, making it one oldest Christian religious site in Egypt.

It is also considered to be the most beautiful of the old churches in the area.

the ornate interior is covered in bone and ivory inlaid designs that seem influenced by the geometric and organic forms that characterize Islamic art.

Karanis was founded ca. 270 BC- abandoned ca. AD 650 The village of Karanis is located in the northern part of the Fayum Oasis, south-west of today’s Cairo; the modern name of the place is Kom Aushim. Karanis was Founded in the first half of the 3rd century BC; at that time, the new rulers of Egypt after Alexander the Great, the Ptolemies, developed the Fayuom into a large fertile zone. In Karanis two temples have been discovered. They were dedicated to forms of sobek. However, about 27 different Egyptian, Greek or Roman deities recorded at the town.

لعنة الفراعنة بين الحقيقة وخرافة - الجزء الأول 🤬🤯🤫
بدأ الكلام عن فكرة لعنة الفراعنة بعد اكتشاف مقبرة الفرعون الذهبي توت عنخ أمون سنة 1922م على يد هوارد كارتر بتمويل من اللورد كارنرفون. وبعد الاكتشاف حصلت أحداث غريبة ومات 22 شخص من اللي ليهم علاقة مباشرة أو غير مباشرة بفتح المقبرة. وكمان من الأحداث الغريبة المرتبطة بلعنة الفراعنة هو غرق السفينة تايتنك بسبب وجود مومياء كاهنة مصرية على متنها، وكمان وفاة الدكتور جمال محرز مدير المتحف المصري ... فهل لعنة الفراعنة حقيقة ولا مجرد خرافة؟؟؟

Discover Memphis Secrets
Memphis, situated on the west bank of the Nile, 23 kilometres (14 miles) south of Cairo, close to the Saqqara necropolis was the administrative capital of Egypt during the Old Kingdom, part of the Middle and New Kingdoms, during the Late Period, and then again in the Ptolemaic period. During the Roman period, the importance of Memphis in the spheres of commerce and administration began to decline as the Romans favoured the fortress town of Babylon, the location of present day Cairo.

According to the Greek historian Herodotus, Memphis was founded by Menes, the legendary unifier of Egypt and its first Dynastic ruler (c. 3100 BC). The name Memphis possibly derives from the Pyramid and mortuary temple of Pepy I at Saqqara called Men-nefer meaning ‘established and beautiful’. Hence, Memphis in Greek and Manf in Arabic. Other names for the city used during Pharaonic times were indw-hedj, ‘White Walls’ or ‘White Fortress’, and ‘Hwt-ka-Ptah’, meaning, ‘Temple for Ka of Ptah’, or, ‘House of the Ka of Ptah’. This name is the most enduring legacy of Memphis because the Greeks pronounced ‘Hwt-ka-Ptah’ as Aegytus (Aigyptos), which later became Egypt.

Saqqara: UNESCO World Heritage Site, about 20 miles south of Cairo, it has more than a dozen of pyramids scattered along the five-mile strip of land, tombs of the archaic period, which is also dotted with the remains of temples, tombs and walkways that, together, span the entire history of ancient Egypt. But beneath the ground is far more a vast and extraordinary netherworld of treasures.

Unique things to discover at Saqqara:
- The Pyramid Texts are the oldest religious writings in the world and make up the principal funerary literature of ancient Egypt. They comprise the texts which were inscribed on the sarcophogi and walls of the pyramids at Saqqara in the 5th and 6th Dynasties of the Old Kingdom (c. 2613-2181 BCE).
- Daily Life scenes on the walls of nobles Tombs
Tombs of the Nobles are a collective term applied to tombs of non-royal tombs like: princes, viziers, officials, priests, soldiers, workers, foremen, etc.
Saqqara has over than 360 of the Old Kingdom tombs of nobles & the number of tombs is increasing after the recent excavations & discoveries.
The most famous tombs of Saqqara: Mereruka, Kagemni, Nikauisisi, Ti, Ptahhptep, Akhethptep, the mastaba of the Two Brothers (Khnumhotep and Niankhkhnum), Khuwy, Wahtye, … etc.
Nobles Tombs depicted daily life in ancient Egypt that include hunting, sailing, making offerings, and manufacturing goods such as pottery and funerary furniture.
