📍 Suleyman Pasha al-Khadim mosque (Salah El Din citadel - Cairo, Egypt)

The Mosque of Suleyman Pasha al-Khadim, the first erected in Egypt under Ottoman rule, was built in 1528 by the governor for the use of the Janissaries quartered in the northern enclosure.

The interior reflects the outward Ottoman form with the dome resting on spherical pendentives, and is ornamented with marble revetment, inscriptions, painting, and elaborate stucco.

Other features of the complex include a shrine of the Fatimid period, rebuilt with its entrance incorporated into the arcades of the court. It was originally erected by Abu Mansur Qasta, governor of Alexandria around 1140, to house his tomb, and dedicated to Sidi Sariya, a companion of the Prophet, hence the common name of the mosque.

“Mohamed Anwar Sadat” (1918 - 1981)

Former president of Egypt from 1970 until his assassination in 1981

Our post here is to show a side from the human side of Sadat.
Sadat grew up in a humble background, he was imprisoned before 1952 for political reasons and it is during these hard times in the prison that he learnt more about himself and more about the freedom of the human soul.His time in the prison was a life changing experience for Sadat that he talked about it in many TV interviews and in his book (in search of identity البحث عن الذات ).
A visit to the Library of Alexandria (Bibliotheca Alexandrina )takes you on an incredible journey through the world of Sadat where you get to see some of his personal belongings.. and you get to see the most inspiring thing “Hand written papers by Sadat where he gets to reflect about his life and how he was pushing to change.” We are leaving you here with some of these incredible papers 😍
