Lovely moment around the area of mount Nebo with Wedjat Tours groups
Mount Nebo is in western Jordan. At 820 metres high, it looks down 1220 metres on the nearby Dead Sea (which is about 400 metres below sea level).
Early Christians from Jerusalem made it a place of pilgrimage. In the 3rd or 4th century monks from Egypt built a small church on one of its peaks, Siyagha (a name meaning monastery), to commemorate the end of Moses’ life. By the end of the 4th century, an empty “tomb of Moses” was being shown to pilgrims on the mountain.
Historical information: Mt Nebo is where Moses is said to have seen the Promised Land, a land he was himself forbidden to enter. It's believed that he died aged 120 and was later buried in the area.

The holy Dome of The Rock from inside at Jerusalem with Wedjat Tours
The Dome of the Rock is an Islamic shrine located on the Temple Mount in the Old City of Jerusalem, a site also known to Muslims as the al-Haram al-Sharif or the Al-Aqsa Compound.

The Memorial Church of Moses, also known as the Maqam Nabi Musa, is a historic church atop the Mount Nebo, an elevated ridge of the Abarim in Jordan. Originally built in the second half of the 4th century CE on the site, where according to the Hebrew Bible Moses was granted a view of the Promised Land and according to a few Islamic scholars Musa was buried. The modern building of Moses' Memorial Church atop Mount Nebo, in Khirbet al-Mukhayyat. It houses some of the best (and best presented) mosaics in Jordan, dating from around 530 CE.
There are a great number of mosaics in Jordan dating back to the Byzantine era (4th to 7th centuries), the finest mosaic found to date is still in its original place on the floor of the Greek Orthodox Church of St.
For example:
Diakonikon Baptistery
The Diakonikon Baptistery (locate) inside the the rebuilt basilica houses several remains of antique mosaics but the masterpiece is a hunting and herding scene interspersed with an assortment of African fauna, including a zebu (humped ox), lions, tigers, bears, boars, zebras, an ostrich on a leash and a camel-shaped giraffe. The modern chapel presbytery, builty to protect the site and provide worship space, remnants of of mosaic floors from different periods can be seen.
Braided Cross Mosaic
A large, braided cross, drafted in black on a white background. This mosaic decoration was laid on the floor of a side hall in the first Memorial of Moses. This mosaic panel with a braided cross presently placed on the east end of the south wall, is the oldest of mosaics. The cross used to be part of a floor mosaic of a side room of the vestibule. The side aisle of the church has beautiful geometric mosaics behind and between the columns.
