I m Hany from Egypt..
Here are a few tips you need to know before coming:
_know if you are eligible for visa on arrival, better to get it upon arrival, otherwise most of the time the website has some issues.
_where to stay in Cairo, if you are into the vibrant life, you better stay in zamalik or downtown,.
Maadi could be a good option.
Giza is useful for one day if you want to go to the pyramids.
_new administrative capital or new Cairo could be cheaper but it s really far from the city and the highlights of the city.
_beach holiday options are hurghada, the combines a local city along with tourist attractions.
Sharm el sheikh is just a tourist attraction, Sinai is really cool with all the sea and mountain activities.
_summer is really hot here from June to Sept better come for the sea.
_you can keep 4/5 days for the Nile Cruise in luxor and Aswan or the same number of days for hotels right there too.
_one day would be enough for Alexandria
_desert safari options are 2 days around the white desert close to Cairo, 3/4 around siwa which is 10 hours away from Cairo.
_pyramids day guide is a must, Cairo tour could be manageable on your own.

_exchange money according to your needs, as you won't be able to exchange it back.
_all entrance fees you can pay with card.
_a student card could give you 50% off you entrance fees.
