Located in the southern city of Luxor, the Colossi of Memnon are two giant statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III. They were built out of blocks of quartzite sandstone and measure eighteen meters high. Both figures sit on thrones carved with imagery of the pharaoh’s mother, wife, and the Nile god Hapy. In a more ancient time, they marked the entrance to what had been the mortuary temple of Amenhotep, which was supposedly larger than anything else built in Egypt. While the distinct pharaoh shape of each statue is still noticeable today, one of the two has been partially destroyed; however, legend says the lower half is known to sing and that hearing this song blesses the listener with good fortune

found in Egypt.
mummified animals have been found in underground catacombs across Egypt including cats, birds, dogs, snakes, rodents and crocodiles.
Animals plaved a huge role in Egvptian culture.
The mummified animals were considered sacred gifts and were used as offerings.
Sometimes they were buried with their owners, or as a food supply for the afterlife. But the most common animal mummies were offerings brought to temples. Via 📸

Mummification🖤👉🏼The body was wrapped in hundreds of meters of linen, and embalmers also carefully wrapped long strips around the body, sometimes even covering each finger and toe separately before wrapping the entire limb. After a few layers, the body was coated with warm resin to set the fabric.

Colorized Photos Reveal the Historic Moment King Tut’s Tomb Was Discovered

the tomb of Tutankhamun was discovered in 1922, it caused a sensation.

The nearly intact tomb was a time capsule waiting to be explored, allowing scholars to gain vital information about life and death in ancient Egypt.

When British Egyptologist Howard Carter stumbled upon the tomb in the Valley of the Kings, no one could have known what riches awaited them inside.

Luckily, photographer Harry Burton was on hand, documenting the excavation of King Tut’s tomb for eight years.

These incredible images, which have been colorized by Dynamichrome, give an unparalleled overview of the excavation.

The photographs are a complement to Carter’s diaries and journals, where he recorded his impressions throughout the excavation.

Reading his words and looking at the photos, it’s hard not to be drawn into this piece of history.

“It was sometime before one could see, the hot air escaping caused the candle to flicker, but as soon as one’s eyes became accustomed to the glimmer of light the interior of the chamber gradually loomed before one, with its strange and wonderful medley of extraordinary and beautiful objects heaped upon one another,” Carter wrote in his journal of the moment when they were able to open the tomb’s second door and step inside for the first time.

Burton’s photographs not only show the wealth of objects—from animal-shaped statues and vases to garments and musical instruments—but also the working environment of the archeologists. Some photographs show how the objects were tagged and arranged meticulously, while others picture the team carefully wrapping and conserving these precious treasures.

The Greek bull...the most horrific torture crimes in history... This metal bull was the most horrific torture crimes known to humans throughout history, as the victim was placed inside the bull’s hollow belly and then heated from below. When the body of a metal bull is heated, the victim screams as his body evaporates, and the bull emits a sound known as “bull bellowing,” which does not stop until his body evaporates.

The victim.

Torture is carried out in 5 steps: 1- The victim is placed inside the belly of the bull through a door at the top. 2

A fire is lit under the bull’s belly after closing the upper door.

3- The bull turns into an oven and the victim becomes a barbecue prepared over low heat

Between diminishing screams as his body begins to evaporate. 4- The bull begins to emit “bull bellowing” sounds through tubes that transform the victim’s screams and burning into sounds that come out with smoke from the bull’s mouth.

5- When the screaming gets intense, the sound sounds like a screaming monster

New Kingdom, 19th Dynasty, reign of Ramesses II, ca. 1279-1213 BC.
From Saqqara necropolis.
Now in the Egyptian Museum, Cairo. TR 7-114-24-1

True pyramids (at least the larger ones), as opposed to step pyramids in Egypt were topped by a special stone called a pyramidion, or sometimes a capstone, which was itself a miniature pyramid. It brought the pyramid structure to a point at the same angle and the same proportions as the main body.

The ancient Egyptian word for the pyramidion, which could also sit atop the apex of an obelisk, was ben-benet, named for the sacred Benben stone kept in the temple of Heliopolis, the oldest center of the sun cult in Egypt. During the Old Kingdom, they were usually made of diorite, granite or a very fine limestone which was then covered in gold or electrum.
