📍Grand Egyptian Museum ..⬇️..

The long-awaited Grand Egyptian Museum by Dublin studio Heneghan Peng Architects has been captured ahead of its scheduled opening in Giza, Egypt, later this year.

Heneghan Peng Architects’ design for the museum encompasses 90,000 square metres of a 50-hectare site, making it the world’s biggest museum.

It is being built for the Egyptian Ministry of Culture to house more than 100,000 pharaonic artefacts from Ancient Egypt and, alongside exhibition space, there will be a children’s museum, conference centre, auditorium, conservation spaces and gardens.

💵 How much did the Grand Egyptian Museum cost to build? The total investment to build this monumental museum has reached approximately $1 billion, funded largely through Japanese loans.

⏳The Grand Egyptian Museum has taken almost 20 years to create, from architectural competition to planned opening now later in 2024.

📍Mountain of the Dead, located in Siwa Oasis is a Mountain where several tombs were carved on its base, terraces, and at the top. Most of them are tombs for Romans and they differ in terms of shape and size, some of them are just small pits on the ground while other tombs are symmetrically carved with recesses and rooms inside.

In the center of Siwa, the ruins of the fortress of Shali of the 13th Century are imposed. Constructed from a material known as a kerchief, “(a mixture of salt rocks from the salt lakes of the region and clay). was built to protect the inhabitants from Bedouin attacks.
Interestingly, with just one heavy rain in the year 1936, Shali began to crumble.

Eventually, the excavator further estimated a total of more than ten thousand mummies.
