The ancient Egyptians were among the first peoples to develop an accurate calendar based on the solar cycle, which shows their progress in astronomy and arithmetic. The Egyptians divided the year into 365 days, which was a huge scientific leap at the time. The year was divided into three main seasons linked to the Nile River, which are:

1. Akhet: the flood season, when the Nile flooded the land.
2. Peret: the growing season, when the land was ready for cultivation.
3. Shemu: the harvest season, when the crops were gathered.

Each season consisted of four months, and each month had 30 days. Finally, they added 5 festive days linked to the gods to complete 365 days.

The amazing thing about the Egyptian calendar is that it served daily, religious and agricultural life, and shows how organized the ancient Egyptians were and how they planned their lives in a way that was compatible with the natural environment around them.
