An x-ray was taken of Tutankhamun's golden mask The Golden Mask of King Tutankhamun as it appears in the x-ray until recently archaeologists believed that the mask was made from one piece but it was quite a surprise when the mask was subjected to an x-ray examination. The surprise was that the mask contains more than one part that was welded with very precise welding that is not visible to the naked eye. At that time everyone was astonished by what the ancient Egyptian civilization had reached in terms of knowledge and progress in the field of alloys and the gold industry.

Having a tour guide that is enthusiastic and knowledgeable is the best of two worlds. Nader and Walaa were the most personable, kind and friendly guides we’ve ever had in our world travels. I thought I’d like to see the Pyramids, but they showed us things beyond my imagination that I’ve truly come to treasure from the culture, civilization and history of that ancient and great nation. I don’t normally go back to places I’ve been, but with Nader and Walaa I’d go back just to visit them.

Saint Simon the Tanner (fl. 10th century), also known as Saint Simon the Shoemaker. The massive cave church of Cairo's Zabbaleen community is one of the largest Christian churches in the Middle East. Simon the Tanner lived toward the end of the 10th century and many Coptic Christians in Egypt were engaged in handicrafts. Saint Simon worked in tanning, a craft known there till this day. This profession involved other crafts that depend on the process, from whence Simon carried several titles related to skins: Tanner, Cobbler, Shoemaker.
