🟥SUBJECT: How to know if ship is HOGGING or SAGGING CONDITION using ship's drafts?
What is Hogging Condition?
If the buoyancy amidships exceeds the weight due to loading or when the wave crest is amidships, the ship will Hog, as a beam supported at mid length and loaded at the end.

What is Sagging Condition?
If the weight amidships exceeds the buoyancy or when the wave trough amidships the ship will sag, as a beam supported at the end and loaded at mid length.

Now to know which is which,
✅1. If the midship draft is higher than the mean of forward and aft drafts, that ship is in SAGGING CONDITION.

✅2. If the midship draft is lower than the mean of forward and aft drafts, that ship is in HOGGING CONDITION.
