South Sinai’s Nabq Nature Reserve - an underrated destination for camping, diving and bird watching near Sharm El Sheikh - is getting its own batch of solar-powered electric cars.

The solar-powered vehicles will allow tourists to travel around the nature reserve without harming the environment with the kind of exhaust fumes you’d get with their gas-powered counterparts.

The inclusion of these vehicles is part of a larger plan to transform the resort town of Sharm El Sheikh into a totally green destination, especially during the lead-up to the COP27 United Nations Climate Change Conference taking place there later this November.

If you've never travelled to Egypt before we would like to offer Sahbi Safari’s top 10 tips for travellers to Egypt.

1) Egypt is a country like no other - with a rich heritage & culture. Embrace the culture & explore local areas, you don't need to be confined to your hotel resorts.

2) Stay hydrated. Egypt, is blessed with sunny warm weather all year round. Keep hydrated to avoid holiday sickness getting in the way of your good time.

3) Haggle. Whether you're picking up souvenirs or using a local taxi, always haggle your price. It's part of the fun of shopping here.

4) Use mosquito repellents. The mozzies here can be relentless so come prepared or use the local spray called ‘Off’.

5) Ignore the scaremongers. Some holiday reps may try to scare you out of stepping out of the hotel and spending your money in local businesses. They will tell you a number of untruths so that your business remains theirs. Take no notice of these tactics, feel free to go out and explore wherever you please.

6) Use sunscreen. The sun is so strong in Egypt, & because we have a beautiful desert wind you may not feel just how hot it is here.

7) Look up. Whether it is to admire our gorgeous mountain desert views, or witness sunrise or our romantic sunsets or gaze at a galaxy of stars at night...don't forget to look up!!

8 ) Try the local cuisine. Egyptian food varies - tasty falafel or foul sandwiches, rice dishes, grilled meats & seafood, tagens & vegetable dishes. Choose from a number of recommended restaurants & cafes throughout Sharm el Sheikh or Hurghada city...Don't be shy... give it a go.

❌Sharm Visa Update Regarding Diving Sites❌

If you arrive in Egypt via Sharm airport and staying in Sharm itself for 15 days or less and have an applicable passport (eg EU) then no visa is required, the only dive site requiring the paid visa is Thistlegorm. Local areas ie Tiran and Ras Mohamed can be visited with the visa waiver. If you enter Egypt through a port other than Sharm airport the visa is required (eg Hurghada or Cairo).

If you wish to get a visa on arrival, you can do so at approved bank kiosks within airport arrival halls, before reaching immigration counters. The visa fee is US$25, payable in in pounds sterling, US dollars or euros. Visas granted on arrival are valid for a maximum of 30 days. There’s no need to buy a visa from an agent. In many cases agents will charge more than US$25 for a visa. If you’re harassed by an agent, report the incident to the tourist police in the airport terminal.

If you’re travelling to Sharm el Sheikh, Dahab, Nuweiba and Taba resorts for up to 15 days, you will receive a free entry permission stamp upon arrival. If you intend to travel out of these areas or stay longer than 15 days, you must get a visa.

‼‼ Updated Covid-19 Entry Requirements for Egypt ‼‼

✅Fully Vaccinated Passengers
Egypt is open to fully vaccinated passengers and they are exempted from quarantine and presenting a negative COVID-19 test result. Check below in the COVID-19 Test section which passengers are considered fully vaccinated by Egypt.

Travelers must bring proof of vaccination – The certificate/document may be requested at different points of the trip.

⚠Other Passengers
Passengers are allowed to enter Egypt. Some passengers must comply with requirements related to quarantine, negative tests for COVID-19, forms and medical insurance, which are detailed in the sections shown below.

⚠Quarantine
➡️Fully vaccinated passengers
Fully vaccinated passengers are not required to undergo quarantine.

➡️Other Passengers
Non-vaccinated passengers are not required to undergo quarantine, unless they test positive for COVID-19 while in Egypt. In that case, they are required to quarantine for 14 days.

ℹIn addition, travelers arriving in Hurghada (HRG), Marsa Alam (RMF), Sharm El Sheikh (SSH) or Taba (TCP) without a PCR test are subject to be tested upon arrival and quarantined until the results are known.

⚠COVID-19 Test

✅Fully Vaccinated Passengers
Fully vaccinated passengers do not need proof of a pre-arrival negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test.

ℹPassengers must present proof of vaccination - The certificate/document may be requested at different points of the trip. They must present proof of vaccination that must comply with Egypt’s requirements.

•All children "regardless their nationalities" under 6 years old are exempted from PCR test.

🔹Passengers from any other country (including Cameroon):

➡️PCR-RT test taken 72 hours before departure

💠Passengers arriving directly at Hurghada (HRG), Marsa Alam (RMF), Sharm El Sheikh (SSH) or Taba (TCP) without a printed negative COVID-19 PCR test result are subject to a PCR test on arrival at their own expense.

✅Forms or Applications Required
A completed Public Health Card must be presented to immigration upon arrival.

✅Health Insurance Required
Incoming tourists must show proof of health insurance upon arrival. There are no formal coverage minimums or requirements for travel insurance, except that the duration of the coverage must last for the entire duration that passengers are in Egypt.

✅Connecting Flights Information
Connections through other destinations may apply specific regulations. Check the requirements for each point of your trip

Egypt drops PCR-test requirement for travelers that are fully vaccinated.

Minister of Health: Allowing entry into the country for vaccination certificates with Corona vaccines approved by WHO and the Egyptian Medicine Authority
The Minister of Health confirms the continued application of the Prime Minister's decision not to enter the country until he obtained a certificate (pcr) for non-vaccination certificates with Corona vaccine

Dr. Hala Zayed, Minister of Health and Population, updated health regulations, requirements and procedures applied by quarantine at the country's entry ports (air, land, and marine), coinciding with coronavirus updates.
Dr. Khaled Mujahid, Assistant Minister of Health and Population for Media and Awareness and Ministry spokesman, explained that the country is being allowed to enter vaccination certificates with vaccination vaccines approved by the World Health Organization and the Egyptian Medicine Authority, provided it has passed 14 days to receive the second dose of vaccines given on two doses (Sinovarm, Sinovac, Spotnik, Pfizer, Astrazenica, Moderna), or 14 days to get the first dose of a vaccine ( Johnson & Johnson)
′′ Mujahid ′′ added that certificates are accepted after reviewing and checking their accreditation from the issuer without scraping, writing off or adding, and the certificate is required (QR Code).
He continued that for vaccination certificates holders coming from countries affected by new virus mutations, additional precautionary measures are being taken including a quick DNA test (ID NOW).
′′ Mujahid ′′ emphasized the continued application of the Prime Minister's decision on health regulations, procedures and requirements for those coming to Egypt, which is not to enter the country until after obtaining a certificate (pcr) that will benefit from corona virus free for non-certificates Vaccination."

Who’s looking forward to holidaying in Egypt this year?

Soon in early 2021 the opening of the Grand Egyptian museum at Giza (Cairo), the museum will be one of the largest in the world, it promises to be breathtaking as the world can finally see the whole contents found in the famous Tutankhamun tomb.

Those visiting Sharm el sheikh and not wanting to go to Cairo, good news as sharm has its own museum with over 600 artefacts on display. The museum was opened in October 2020 and is open 10am - 1pm and 5pm -11pm, children under 6 years get to go free.

It’s taking a while to post but wanted to share with you how Egypt continues to amaze. In the early hours a chorus of voices started saying Allahu Akbar (God is great) repeatedly, one by one residents joined in from their balcony’s, women, children & men. All praising God, the Egyptian people’s faith is humbling, their compassion & love evident as soon the night was filled with voices in harmony.

We’ve seen on social media the Italian community come together singing and dancing. It was truly touching to witness the Egyptian community’s response to the threat from the Covid-19 virus.
We wish everyone good health, be safe & enjoy the community spirit 🧡

The Hurghada museum is a one-storey building designed according to the highest international standards, covering 3,000 sq m to exhibit a collection of 1,791 artefacts brought from various storehouses in the Red Sea area and beyond.
Under the title ‘Beauty and Luxury’, the museum will have displays showing the beauty and luxury of the ancient Egyptian civilisation through its different dynasties. A model showing how perfume was made and how ancient Egyptians decorated their tombs are exhibited.

Wow not only is the northern Red Sea one of the wonders of the underwater world, it continues to show its unique biodiversity. It’s no wonder the scuba diving in the Red Sea is listed in the top 10 sites in the world. 🇪🇬🐠🐟🐡
The discovery of five unique kinds of algae that could help the coral reefs in the northern Red Sea to be resilient to climate change and avoid the process of bleaching.

“The newly discovered algae have not been recorded elsewhere, and likely playing important roles for heat resistance in the northern Red Sea," said the study author Eslam Osman.

We thought we'd tell you about a lesser known tour from sharm el sheikh to Moses Pool.
The Moses Pool locally known as Hammam Moussa is located north of el-tor in south Sinai. The area consists of 5 natural springs that feed the outdoor pools and the main pool under the domed roof structure.
The springs have sulfuric water that measure 38° Celsius, believed to help cure rheumatism, arthritis and skin problem.
The pools are surrounded by more than 2,000 old fruitful palm trees and analgesic herbs. The water and the herbs in the area are claimed to settle body energy and fight aging.

Ras Mohammad National Park is 20km from Sharm El Sheikh, last year they revamped the parks visitor centre. Full of interesting facts about the unique biodiversity of this spectacular area.
You can visit for a few hours, the whole day or even camp overnight at the park. We organise daily tours or private VIP trips 😀
