It is a series of adjacent hills. The mountain is located 3 km south of Siwa Oasis, and has two peaks called “Nadira and Nasra.” At the top of Nasra there is a cave carved into the rock called “Tanashur,” and below it there is a monument called “Sultan’s House” made of limestone. The mountain is famous for its hot sand with therapeutic properties, and for containing the red dye used in the manufacture of Siwan pottery. Egyptian and foreign visitors flock to the mountain during the summer to enjoy the hot sand baths, which are characterized by their ability to treat rheumatic diseases, joint and spine pain, and skin diseases. Also famous by aid El sayaht which siwa people celebrate the harvest feast at the full moon nights of October.
