Valley of the Kings:
The Valley of the Kings is a narrow, enclosed valley situated on the west bank of the Nile. The story behind choosing this valley as the burial place for the kings is worth narrating. Thutmose I (1540–1501 BCE), the third pharaoh of the Eighteenth Dynasty, desired to select an isolated tomb behind the cliffs of Thebes to protect his body from tomb raiders. He entrusted the task to the architect Ineni, instructing him to choose this location.
Valley of the Queens:
The Valley of the Queens is the burial site for queens in ancient Egypt. Formerly known as 'Ta-Set-Neferu,' meaning 'Place of the Children of the Pharaoh' or 'Place of Beauty,' as it is where queens from the Eighteenth, Nineteenth, and Twentieth dynasties (1550 to 1070 BCE) were laid to rest. The valley also houses the tombs of numerous princes, princesses, and nobility. The preservation of these tombs was ensured by priests who conducted daily funerary rituals and prayers for the departed nobility.
Located near the famous Valley of the Kings, on the west bank of the Nile in the Luxor Governorate, the Valley of the Queens is a testament to the rich history and royal legacy of ancient Egypt .
