Águilas is a municipality in the autonomous community of the Region of Murcia in Spain . It is located on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea , in the Gulf of Mazarrón within the Costa Cálida , in the Alto Guadalentín region , located in the extreme southwest of the Region of Murcia . It has 35,722 inhabitants.

Leaving the front door you are straight onto a small pedestrian area, with a restaurant, and just a short walk to the “Plaza Espana” with all the bars and cafes situated around the main square. From the front door you can access the beach of Levante within 5 minutes, or a further short walk along the promenade Playa Delicias. Or from the rear entrance you can arrive at Playa de Ponienti in 5 minutes, giving you the choice of the best blue flag beaches Aguilas has to offer, and all within easy walking distance. And as well as the fishing port there is a marina and a sailing school. Being in the centre you do not need to use your car as everything is close by and Aguilas has numerous bars and restaurants situated all around the town, or along the promenades that stretch along the front, and has a large selection of independent shops to enjoy where you will be sure to find something a little different. If you fancy a night out then you can choose the theatre which is to be found after a leisurely stroll along the promenade, or for those of you who want a lively atmosphere then any of the numerous bars along the front have music.
