Murcia

After painstaking research, Spain-wide consulting company Tecnitasa found that the stunning municipality of Águilas in Murcia will offer holiday home renters the most bang for their buck.

At less than a quarter of the price of the national average, an apartment with sea views will set you back just 700 euros per week in the beautiful Isla del Fraile, while a bolthole in Calabardina averages around 600.

But the cheapest beach area in Águilas is Playa de La Colonia, where a 90-square-metre apartment is currently going for 550 euros a week. However, those who plan to rent in the middle of the summer season should bear in mind that at these prices, any availability will be snapped up fast.

This pristine beach on the Costa Cálida is located within Águilas town itself and is partially sheltered from the sea gusts by the promontory of the Castle extending to the breakwater of the Rambla del Charco.

It is a sandy and gravelly beach surrounded by lush gardens, palm trees, recreational areas and lots of bars and restaurants. It’s also just been awarded the Q for Quality badge.

As an added bonus, Playa de la Colonia is the perfect spot for people with reduced mobility, as it’s fully equipped with wooden walkways and ramps, an amphibious bathing chair and adapted changing rooms.
