❤️Young people in Spain are abandoning dating apps to find partners in supermarkets. Driven by the recent trend on TikTok, the Iberians decided to storm the stores of the Mercadona chain to find their boyfriends and girlfriends.

🍍On TikTok, the trend is for young singles to go to Mercadona supermarkets between 7:00 and 8:00 in the evening for "flirting time" and put a pineapple upside down in the shopping basket, as a signal that they are available for others .

🛒After walking around the store with the pineapple in their basket and seeing someone they find attractive and using the same flipping fruit technique, they have to try to collide each of their shopping baskets separately to match that person . At the moment, those who adhere to this tactic stated that they are rather looking for a unique social experience, not being interested in shopping at all. But the whole thing seems to be a great marketing strategy for Mercadona!

✈️Several of the top UK airlines have issued urgent warnings to passengers travelling to Spain this week ahead of a 5-day strike of security staff at Alicante Airport.

❗️The industrial action, which Jet2 believes could cause widespread disruption and delays, will run from Wednesday July 31 until Sunday August 4, between the hours of 8.30am and 9.30am, and again from 6pm to 7pm.

✌️Jet2 said in an advisory posted on its website: “The strike is supported by security services at the airport and will affect congestion at security control.”

✅CNN announces that Calpe faces another threat: a hefty fine for reserving beach space.
In a press release, the city council reminded tourists that, in accordance with the Municipal Coastal Use and Management Ordinance, they are prohibited from setting up items such as chairs, hammocks and beach umbrellas before 9 a.m., so as not to obstruct beach cleaning.

✅Those who do not comply with this rule risk being sued, having their goods confiscated and receiving fines of 250 euros.
Chairs, hammocks and umbrellas that are left unattended for more than three hours during the day can be removed, the council said.
He added that for several years he has received complaints about people reserving space on the beach, and visitors arriving mid-morning find it already occupied with items, but with no sign of their owners.

🚵‍♀️The national tourism board has introduced a program to encourage sustainable and climate-friendly behavior. Starting today, they will reward those who choose to ride a bike, take public transportation, or do a little work like gardening or picking up litter in the harbor or in city parks!

🍹People who show up with their own reusable coffee cups can get a free drink at certain venues, while other perks for good behavior include a free cocktail at a rooftop bar or extra time spent on the ski slope complex in Town!

🚮Wow well done!! The new "street art" waste paper bins, which are being installed to replace the boring old plain blue ones on the beaches of Levante, Poniente and Mal Pas in Benidorm.
🗑️The designs were created by young people in the town, which were then subject to public vote, with the winning art now on display on the bins. Its certainly better than the old blue ones!

The history of chocolate dates back about 2,500 years. The Aztecs loved liquid chocolate, believing it was given to them by the god of wisdom Quetzalcoatl. Cocoa seeds were also used as currency.

☕️The drink was made by mixing roasted cocoa beans, ground with water, with the addition of herbs or spices. The mixture ended up having a frothy consistency, being poured from one vessel to another. The drink tasted bitter, not sweet. In this form, drinking chocolate, consisting of pure cocoa, was very healthy and full of nutrients.

🇪🇸In 1528, the Spanish conquistadors led by Hernan Cortez brought chocolate or rather cocoa beans to mainland Spain. The Spanish considered chocolate too bitter, so they started adding cane sugar. They also infuse the chocolate with vanilla and other lighter spices like nutmeg, cloves or cinnamon to give the finished chocolate a sweeter taste.

🙌Spain is heading for a new record tourist year with more than 33 million international tourists up to the end of May, which is 13.6% more than in the same period of 2023, according to data released by Spain's national statistics institute (INE).
🙌The data puts the expenditure of these tourists at more than 43.2 billion euros, some 21.8% more than in the first five months of 2023.
