'El Granero' at Casa Moya is situated in a traditional working farming village surrounded by olive groves close to the historic town of Alcala la Real where couples, friends or single travellers can enjoy a high level of comfort and child free environment. The area is a paradise for walking, cycling, painting, photography or just take a breath and relax and embrace the local flora with all of your
senses.
'El Granero' at Casa Moya offers the highest level of comfort with all modern conveniences to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Quality linens and towels, free wifi, tv and fully stocked kitchen with everything you need to make your stay with us easy and feeling like home.
'El Granero' has it own furnished private terrace and a covered terrace for dining and relaxing with the most fabulous vistas. Guests can also enjoy the scented garden stocked with aromatic plants and flowers attracting bees and butterflies. The pergola offers a seating area with natural shade from the sun and picture postcard views of the local sierras. The pool terrace is furnished with sunbeds and umbrellas and dining set with access to the summer kitchen complete with gas BBQ and running water and also features a shower room for convenience. The saltwater pool is for sole use by our guests during their stay and is open from May to the end of September or if warm enough the end of October with average temperatures of 26C, the perfect place to relax with offering relief from the heat of the day. The countryside around us at night has low light pollution which means you can experience the most amazing starry nights and it is a perfect place for stargazers and astronomers. We are wildlife friendly and you may be lucky and get to see and hear cicadas, geckos, lizards, snakes, all sorts of spiders, carpenter bees, mammoth wasps, dragonflies, honey and bumble bees, birds, bats, foxes, wild boar and birds of prey. There is something for everyone at our cottage in the campo.❤️
N.B Although we are embracing and encouraging all to reduce carbon debt, unfortunately we are unable to facilitate the charging of Electric Vehicles at Casa Moya. However, the nearest charging point is at Lidl supermarket only 10 minutes from Casa Moya.

The comfort of our guests is our priority and for 2024 we have upgraded the ensuite shower room and family bathroom with a neutral, modern colour scheme. In addition we have air conditioning for comfort in the summer months AND not forgetting upgrading to Fibre Optic Internet! Everything you need for your stay at Casa Moya.
The recent rains although welcomed, proved too much to bear for our soakaway in the garden. With water backing up in the drain by the house, we had to come up with a solution. The solution was to install a 'French drain' in Spain. We commissioned the job to a reliable, hardworking Mike who is autonomo and a fabulous job was completed in double quick time. Having dug the trench, he laid a w**d membrane down first, then put in pipe with thin cuts at intervals along each side and top filled with gravel. The excess soil was then relocated. If you need Mike in your life to help you, I'll be happy to pass on his contact details.
The first few months of each year are always very busy with preparations for the rental season ahead starting this year in mid March. Another task ticked off is the staining of the outdoor furniture. We decided to go for a darker finish this year and very happy with the result. The next job is to refit the ensuite shower room with a different colour palette. In additon the bedroom will be freshened up too.

Today was assigned to pruning the roses in front of the rental cottage at Casa Moya. Being careful to cut at 45 degrees and above a leaf node. It took most of the day but we enjoyed the 22C temperature and sunshine 🌞
The outside Christmas tree is up and adorned with Solar lights ready for some sun. Its weatherproof and made simply using chestnut tree posts kindly cut to size by our neighbour Trevor who has all the kit.
Bright sunshine and warm too at 24C in the shade. Wonderful weather for mid November.

We all love getting into a bed with pristine white cotton sheets. At Casa Moya we use Egyptian cotton linens on our beds and our guests always comment on how lovely they are. We do request that our guests shower off the residue of sun lotions from their skin before getting into bed because the staining is very difficult and sometimes impossible to remove. This photo shows you the colour of the water having soaked the sheets and pillowcases for 48 hours in bicarbonate of soda AFTER a machine hot cotton wash cycle with stain remover. In some cases we cannot remove the staining and we then have very expensive dust sheets that we use for decorating. Can I please ask you to remember this picture when you are on holiday or a short break to shower before bed when using a suncream, your hosts will appreciate it.
The refurbishment of our village fountain is complete and looking very nice indeed! The date denotes the date the original fountain was built.
The vineyard is only 15 minutes from Casa Moya. A great place to visit

Another busy day at Casa Moya. 'El Granero' is prepped and ready for painting tomorrow in time for our next guests and the season ahead. All soft furnishings have been washed a ready to go back when finished. 'Bear' was supervising between naps!
For the convenience of our guests , this year we have installed USB sockets in each bedroom and living area. Our guests can now travel lighter by not packing plugs and adapters as well as pool towels, bathrobes,, hairdryers and guest toiletries as these are provided to enhance our guests' experience at Casa Moya.
Our major project for 2023 and for the benefit of our guests is nearing completion. Having spent a week emptying the pool and trying to conserve as much of the water as possible. We then had to clean the mosaic tiles and remove loose grout with a pressure washer ready for it to be regrouted and changed from Chlorine to Salt water system which is much kinder to skin. All we need now is the water that is coming tomorrow with the salt water system operational the day after. We are looking forward to Summer with our guests enjoying the pool.
We've been cteative in the garden by adding some shade and fencing using wooden panels. These were made from chestnut stakes used for supporting saplings. It was the cheapest way of doing it as wood is very expensive here. We used the posts cut to size as uprights and crossbars and then cut the remaining posts in half for the slats. Our kind neighbour had all the machinery to help with the cutting. Can't wait for them to weather and take on a more silvery look.
Another job ticked! The decorative olive tree had a well needed trim. It was spreading so quickly and started to block the fabulous view.

Although we encourage birds into the garden the pergola seems to have become the pigeons pooping place. So today we installed some decorative encouragement for them to poop elsewhere. Fingers crossed 🤞
