Get comfortable for the night after a relaxing day by the pool. All bedrooms are of cours equipped with air condition for a cool night.

The trick with the airco is to not put it too cold, around 23 degrees is usually more than cold enough. The airco switches off automatically when it has the right temperature and if it gets too warm, it will automatically switch on again.

It may have been quiet on our social media, but it has definitely not been at the finca.

We have welcomed many happy guest these past summers and during the winter period I’ve been busy with expanding the dream.

November 2021 we completely renovated the pool. Stairs and a platform in the pool were build before I had someone tile the entire pool.

December 2022 I build a new 40m2 terrace next to the pool so people can enjoy a bit more space.

And last spring we also painted the outside of the finca.

Right now we have already started preparing for next season as many bookings for this years have already been confirmed. Maybe we will see you this summer as well??

Fresh home grown organic avocados.

The avocado season is almost over and yesterday I picked the last few. In order to get them nice and soft you should let the sit for a while. Depending on the weather it can take up to 9 days before they are good to eat.

So if you decide to come next year in spring, you can pick your own avocados!

Besides Alhaurín el Grande, there are plenty of other villages in the area to visit. Here we have Istán, surrounded by nature and natural water springs. Take a little trip, stop in Istán for a nice lunch and perhaps finish the day with a refreshing swim in the ocean before heading home.

The lakes around Ardales en El Chorro are pretty amazing. Bring your family for a refreshing swim in the beautiful blue coloured water. Get your hands on a canoe or standup paddle board and you can enjoy the Spanish outdoor lifestyle.

And with plenty of beautiful hikes around the area, it’s a perfect place to spend the day.

These are the original doors from the house. But to get them back to this state, I had to scrape of many layers of paint. It took about 14 hours per door.

On top of that, one doors was originally a bedroom door at the front of the house. But because I added a second bathroom, I decided to remove that door and move it to the new bath room to have 4 similar doors along the hallway.

A big task, but looking at the end result I can say that I am more than pleased with it as it gives so much character to the house.

The bedroom got a new wooden door, next to the entrance door where I also installed a new wood door. This way everything matches perfectly.

The winter season is also a wonderful time to visit Spain. During sunny days it can easily be 20 degrees. The fields around you are lush and you’ll hear many birds singing.

Although the nights are a bit colder, you will find 2 fireplaces in the house. One in the living room and one in the kitchen.

Imagine, your lunch or dinner by a nice warm crispy fire or maybe you just want to relax on the sofa by the fireplace.

Spring is around the corner though, so a few more weeks left to enjoy the fireplaces.

Looking for a refreshing swim in natural mountain water?

About 10 minutes away from there is a nice walk to this waterfall. Follow the stream up words and you will find several other spots where you can enjoy a refreshing swim.

Want to have the waterfall to yourself, visit it during the week. On the weekend it’s best to go in the morning.

Come and walk El Caminito del Rey when you visit Finca Robledo.

It is one of the most famous and spectacular walks in the area. You don’t need to be a professional hiker, this one is accessible for everyone, kids and grandparents included.

Tickets ara available on the official website and cost around 12 euros. This includes a guide (English speaking) who tells you interesting facts and the history of the area. Make sure you make your reservation as dates sell out quick!

It’s beyond the end of harvest season right now so I decided to pick all the mandarins and use them to make juice. The thing is, they are still very juicy and sweet, but the skin is too dry.

Now that all the fruits are picked, I performed a skeleton prune to 2 trees. It’s basically what it says it is, pruning it al the way down to its core structure. Photo 2 shows you the before, photo 3 shows you the end result.

It might look harsh, but it will grow back beautifully and it will produce even better fruits in the future since all dead branches are gone.

At least I have plenty of fruit to make juice for some days.. (photo 4)

The last few weeks I’ve put a lot of time in decoration the house. Every little change is an improvement and I am excited about how it’s all unfolding.

Summer is here now and Spain opened its borders for tourists today. As tourists are coming and looking for a more private place to enjoy their holiday, Finca Robledo is a great getaway to jump the crowds. Yet, your are close to beaches and restaurants (which are all open again) if you would like to go out.

Several bookings have been made already, but we still have some as of mid August.

As Spain is opening its borders for tourists again as of July, Finca Robledo will be opening its door as of July as well!

The coming month we will be working on decorating the interior to have everything ready to host our guests. In the meantime you can start planning your holiday.

The house is located in the hills close to Malaga and has its own large private pool. It's therefore the ideal place to spend you holiday away from crowded place and maintaining a safe distance during the Corona virus time.

We give a full refund or you may change your arrival date if you are unable to travel because of COVID-19. But you can also reserve a spot for after the summer or even next year.
