🍷Have you ever drank wine from a porrón? For centuries, drinkers from the Catalan region have used it! It is a unique glass with a pointed spout that is tipped up to spurt out a thin jet of wine down their throats
Sounds easy right? Not so much! Mastering the technique takes plenty of practice! Most beginners usually end up pouring wine down their chins rather than their throats 🫗
Our local guides are expert in this technique, they can tell you all about it and show you how its done! 💫

Antoni Gaudí designed the Sagrada Familia so that the Church was visible and recognizable from anywhere in Barcelona. This is why its Towers are so important!
Once its finished it will have 18 towers: 12 of which are dedicated to the apostles, 4 to the evangelists, one to the Virgin Mary and one to Jesus Christ (the highest one)

📍Have you ever been to El Parc de la Ciutadella?
⛲️ One of its main attractions inside is The Font de la Cascada. The fountain was designed by Josep Fontsére with minor contributions from a young Antoni Gaudí, who was a student of architecture at the time. Gaudí has been attributed with the rocky decoration of the waterfall and some of the decorative motifs.
🐎 The fountain is decorated with sculptural elements by a variety of 19th-century Catalan artists, most notably the sculpture of four gilded, rampant horses ( the Quadriga de l'Aurora by Rossend Nobas) that tops the pavilion

While 150 years is certainly a long time to build something, think about this: when La Sagrada Familia is completed, it will have taken longer to build than the Egyptian Pyramids, and only 50 years less than the Great Wall of China 😱

Park Guell fact: It was a failed housing project 🫢
When Gaudi originally set about designing and building Parc Guell, he didn’t intend it to become a public park🌲. Instead, he and land owned Eusebi Guell planned to build a modern housing estate with all the latest modern conveniences, like running water and heating. The location 📍 was unrivalled too, high above the chaotic Catalan capital with views over the sea 🌊 and the Plain of Barcelona.

La Diada de Sant Jordi, St George’s Day, is a festive occasion that has become a celebration of Catalan culture! 🤩 This is why many balconies in the city are decorated with the senyera, the Catalan flag, as they are on other key national dates. In fact, it is a celebration of culture and love ❤️, represented by books 📖 and roses 🌹. Men used to give roses to their loved ones and the women responded by presenting their beloved a book. But this tradition has evolved along with society, and nowadays people are likely to give or receive either or both of these gifts.
The main meeting point in Barcelona is La Rambla, which is packed from end to end with book and flower stalls. Barcelona is always full of florists’ stalls and it is estimated that 40% of all the roses sold in a year are sold on this single day! 🫢
